I wish I could give more stars based on how lovely the hostess (I would guess she was the owner) was!
When we made the reservation, the restaurant had asked us if it was a special occasion, and we had mentioned that we were staying at Sparkling Hills resort. The hostess took great care to mention that detail when she greeted us— nice personal touch.
Ambiance of the interior was very dim— it would have been impossible to spot hair in my food. Jokes aside, it was perfectly average…nothing really caught my eye or made a memorable impression.
On to the food. When our Mediterranean Mussels & Prawns arrived piping hot to our table in a pot, I was most excited. I could have done without the cream in the sauce— both sauce options had cream, so I chose the option that appeared to have less cream. Great flavours, however, by the time we got to the bottom of the pot, I could feel the heaviness of the cream settling in.
The honey goat cheese salad was everything it promised to be! Sweet, tangy and crunchy pecans! Delightful.
My dinner date and I shared everything— we split the carribean halibut for our entree, when it finally managed to make its way to the table. I would guess the wait between appetizers and entree to be 30 Minutes from the time our main was fired and arrived to our table. Plating looked promising and I was excited to dive in. Fish was nicely cooked, but lacked seasoning. The proportion of risotto was very generous— I would say too generous given the rich nature of the dish. Flavour of the risotto was nice, but the heaviness of it sat like a ton of bricks in my stomach and really left me with no memory of the fish.
Unfortunately the slow down in service towards the latter half of our meal meant it cut into our spa time.
May have to come back just for appies & wine on a sunny day. Maybe it was on an off night, but I am only basing my rating on the...
Read moreThis place was recommended by my in-laws (they've not been there themselves but they've heard good things) so my wife and I went in for a "pre-anniversary" dinner on a Thursday night. Got there 15 minutes earlier than our reservation but we were seated right away. As per other reviewers, the restaurant was a bit dark as there were no windows, other than the ones in the front, to let any natural light in. You get used to it after a while. Staff were very nice, friendly and made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Wine selection was fairly good but not so much for beer - not surprising since the restaurant name has "wine cellar" on it. Good selection of appies. We had the Mediterranean bread - highly recommended but be warned that it's a pretty big portiib so you might consider sharing. The main dish came about an hour from when we were seated - didn't feel it was too long of a wait although we weren't in a hurry and we were just enjoying our rare time alone without our toddler. My wife ordered a pasta dish without artichokes & capers - it came with artichokes & capers. The server apologized when it was brought to her attention and insisted that they bring another dish exactly the way my wife liked it - and since it was the kitchen's error, they took it off the bill. Very impressed with the way it was handled! The food was delicious and the portions were generous but not unmanageable - unless you fully indulged on the Mediterranean bread to start with. Price was reasonable for what you get. Overall, we enjoyed our meal, the staff was great, and he had a very nice evening out. We will definitely be coming back and we highly recommend this quaint restaurant if you're...
Read moreI was walking in the street and I saw this place which was looking fancy from outside . I have a master degree in wine&spirits , I am from France so I was glad to see it was a wine cellar restaurant, I wanted to see the menu to potentially organize dinner with my boss and co workers for futures work party.
I go in and I politely asked the guy with a noz piercing at the entrance if I could use the bathroom first before ordering . He told me with a very pompous behaviour no , I asked why and he told me because I wasn’t a client, and actually, nobody never asked him before to use the bathroom first ... I said that I wanted to order a glass of wine and not only using the bathroom, he basically show me the door and said with a rude and sarcastic voice the restaurant was closed . I started laughing nervously cause I felt highly insulted , so, I walked away , and told him I wasn’t an homeless and I only wanted to discover the restaurant and menus . He kept going with his nasty behaviour and told me to “Never get back” …. I was speechless and felt humiliated . I ate in the nicest and classyest places in France and Europe and I never been treated so poorly … I am not sure who this guy think is he … I rarely use google reviews to put bad comments but honestly, it was just highly insulting to say nothing. I will definitely NEVER Be Back , rest assured! working in the food & beverage industry and treating potential clients like a trash … Good Luck , you will definitely need some with this...
