I came here for the first time in about five years. I came here once right after All You Can Eat ended, and it was overpriced and didn't taste very good. Today I gave them another shot. Service was super friendly. Both the server and the cashier were great. Everything was continuously sanitized. They have a huge cherry blossom plant in the middle of the tables. It was impossible to not have my shoulders and head hit it when entering and exiting my table. It is super pretty but I know other customers will be annoyed by it. The menu is limited for vegetarians in contrast to other Japanese restaurants downtown. Only 3 types of rolls, yam and veggie tempura, vege spring rolls, and vegetarian yakisoba are your only major options. Soda options were limited to Coca Cola, Coke Zero, and Diet Coke today. I think there was a miscommunication because I saw other sodas in their fridge when I paid for my food. . .or they were unavailable for some reason? I dunno. A root beer would've been nice. The food tasted okay. I dunno if it was because I wasn't as hungry as I normally am at Japanese restaurants, but the tempura didn't hit the spot like it normally does. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for tempura today. I like how they offer 6 vege spring rolls for 4.95. Most restaurants offer just one for that price. Even though the spring rolls are tiny and barely filled, it feels like you're eating more because it's six instead of one big roll. The music and decor is very inspired. They have still kept the bells on the tables from their All You Can Eat days. They give you a mini Lindt chocolate on your way out instead of mints. I like that. Overall, 6 vege spring rolls and 6 pieces of assorted tempura, and a reluctant Coke Zero came to 17 bucks after tip and tax. I recommend this place. Feel free to give it a shot!

Rave to, Sushi KaWa Sushi KaWa is a culinary gem drowning in a saturated landscape of fast food pop-ups that litter the humble streets of Vernon B.C. When you first walk through the doors, you are greeted by darkened wood accents, and sleek, elegant decor. The aroma playfully dancing throughout the establishment is subtle, and not overbearing or obnoxious. An eye catching cherry blossom tree stands graciously in the centre of the room. It doesn't appear out of place, or tacky — it's perfect. The staff are attentive, convivial and informative. It's a comforting environment to be within, this makes the process of settling in to visually feast on the menu a much more relaxed and enjoyable experience. The food; in my near forty years of life, I have consumed many plates of sushi and sushi imitations, (even gas station sushi — I'm not proud of it, but it happened...) Sushi KaWa is hands down one of THE best, if not THE best sushi places in Western Canada! I know, I know... sounds crazy, right? At least hear me out; Sushi KaWa is not egregiously overpriced. They're not skimpy on portions, and they don't value flare and theatrics over dining and satisfaction. There are no trendy queues that stretch around the block, it's just good old fashioned good eats! This place, 10/10. I stand by that. It's perfect for a first date, and a returning one. And in my case, it was perfect for a special anniversary date. Try the Volcano Roll — you won't regret it.

Had a disappointing experience today. I ordered the Chirashi Donburi..I have had it before with fish cut in smaller chunks but today got slabs of fish. I know it may be petty to some but I wasn’t expecting to have to use a knife instead of chopsticks for my lunch. I think the chef was being lazy that or not familiar with a sushi knife. Called Manager she did not care or care that she could potentially lose my and my families business. Very disappointed. In response to your response ..I did not say your food was yucky ..I said that the chunks of fish were too big to eat with chopsticks as they were huge. Have no fear though i did bring it home cut it in smaller bite size pieces and make my own poke bowl. Thank you for your response but I feel in the future I will try other local Sushi restaurants as there are several good ones for my family and friends to try Yuki Sushi in Lumby is an example. You waitress that answered the phone was lovely it was her suggestion for refund or chose a different option so I have no complaints about her as that would have been the proper response to keep a customer, just disappointed in your response. Good luck in these tough times. Ps anyone that knows me would know I would never demand a refund.

Horrible management- it is not uncommon to see new servers every time you come in because the employee turn over is so frequent.

Of course- by "horrible management" I am referring to the intimidation tactics, the harassment, the yelling, the name calling and the owner holding grudges against the staff. It was not just* myself that broke down crying multiple times; because of something that was said or done. I was ignored for two months and refused to be rescheduled because I got mentally tired of being rejected every morning when I said hello to the boss and got glared at...He held the matter of me not saying "hello" against myself for months-instead of talking about it. There was never any conversation and it seemed abundant that they just assumed if they just ignored me long enough that i'd eventually quit- which I did. They also were telling me they would* schedule me if their was room (as I reached out many times checking in on the restaurant)-meanwhile were actually hiring multiple new servers.. Very unprofessional. I was never allowed on my phone although many of the other staff were allowed to be on their phones and were not attacked or shunned for this. The only comment I got was that the only* korean girl that serves, was allowed- because she never got caught... It was not uncommon for their to be a double standard between the kitchen staff and the servers. Addressing the accusation of "stealing money", I gave a 10% discount which amounted to about $2-3 MAX and let me say that this is the same discount given for takeout and one I was told we can give to friends and family- which many of the other staff did; regardless it never happened again. Their was also an incident where because of my racial background I was not able to hold any cash over $50 in the summer for a week and the korean girl had to close my tables that paid with cash.. ( far before the "stealing" incident)

more than happy to address any...
