First time there. Will not go back nor recommend. The woman that took our order was extremely rude and treated customers like assembly line objects that she had to rush through even though there was no one but us in line! I asked about sandwiches another woman was preparing in the background ...they seemed to include shredded children...again, it was our first time to visit and there was no menu in sight. She said they were vegetarian sandwiches. I asked if there were any with chicken or cold cuts. She retorted in a condescending tone, "vegetarian don't have meat"! And continued to press us to order already without telling us what was available. The woman in the background who was overhearing the conversation slid the menu across the counter to us so we could then see what they offered. She, at least, was more courteous. It's a sit down cafe in a fairly transited street, around the corner from hotels, where people from out of town stay...people who don't know your menu and certainly don't expect to be treated rudely while they visit the town. The woman running the counter at this place seems to view and treat customers like just another order number to add to the bottom line. Victoria and all of Canada we've visited is absolutely beautiful and we've always remarked how nice people are everywhere we've gone. Not at Milano Cafe...
Read moreRe: Elizabeth Song's review - my wife and I were literally there when this person ordered and we witnessed her harsh tone that came out of nowhere. We're regulars at this place and we know the quality of service and coffee we always receive. I understand that sometimes maybe a coffee isn't done the way you fashion it (even tho this wasn't the case) but basic respect means you should kindly ask the barista if they could redo it, explaining why, and I know for a FACT that this barista in particular would've been more than happy to accommodate even if she wasn't in the wrong. She's one of the friendliest staff there. But we literally saw this woman harass her and ask her for her name in such an angry and disrespectful way, and it's so normal to ask someone why they are asking for your name? This woman literally ignored the barista and walked away. That could've been an opportunity to maybe let the barista know why you're unhappy with their drink but instead you chose to be rude and disrespectful and post an unwarranted review. It's just a freaking coffee. Come on it's...
Read moreI ordered a pour-over today. One of your staff members helped me with my order. I can’t call her “a barista” because she doesn’t know how to make a coffee, and there is no service mind.
I was watching as she made the coffee, because I was interested in that. The coffee should be slowly poured with the hot water over the grounds in a controlled manner. However, what I saw there was she just poured a lot of hot water into the coffee grounds, and the hot water overflowed. Moreover, she didn't know what she had done wrong. She made “coffee water”, not “coffee”.
I asked her name because I wanted to remember her. She said like “Brenda (?)”, and she showed quite a sensitive reaction, asking me twice why I asked her name. It made me feel uncomfortable again. In that mood, I couldn’t hear her name exactly. The name seemed like “Brenda”.
You need to reeducate her for that position. I am very disappointed with her service. If you want to know more about her, please ask me again. I will...
