WE GOT SICK. OWNER DOES NOT CARE!!! Updated: To what insurance claim are you referring? We made no insurance claim. To request a doctor’s note, after waiting over 35 days to reply to us re FOOD POISONING & only responding AFTER we complain publicly & suddenly “claiming” it’s your “policy” is deceitful, disgusting & dishonest!! You may demand your employees do this, but demanding this 35 days after we complain is deceitful. One million people in British Columbia do not have a family doctor nor do they have access to a walk in clinic or an urgent/primary care clinic. Be sure to publicly post your ludicrous doctor's note "policy” requiring customers to “provide proper documentation” and a “doctor’s note” in the event of getting poisoned after eating your disgusting slop, so customers are clearly aware of the “policy”. How ridiculous and stupid to demand customers get a doctor’s note to prove they got sick eating your food!Even if they got such a note, which no one ever would, you would still deny they got sick from eating your food! A so called inspectors report does not prove anything, we got sick on May 21, more than a month BEFORE the supposed inspection! Plenty of time to clean up & throw out rancid oils & food. We haven’t received a sincere apology, or any sincere indication that you wish to remedy this. All we have received to date, from you, is blame and denials. You are not honourable people.
Update: Real Thai owner in response to your condescending and uncaring comment, my husband and I were not just "unwell" we were POISONED by your food and were VIOLENTLY ill with vomiting and severe diarrhea many times in the early morning hours of May 22nd after eating take out from your restaurant. On May 25 after we had recovered from several days of feeling ill, we called and were told the manager was not there, so we contacted you via your web form that is on your website regarding our experience, we got no response. May 30, we sent an email to the email address that is on your website and did not receive a reply. June 15, we sent a second email, again to the email address that is on your website, we never received a reply. You were hoping by ignoring us that we would go away, you chose to not reply to our complaints and to not take our complaint seriously. You are not honourable people. Shame on you!
I would not be writing this bad review if the owners of Real Thai had contacted me but after sending comments via their website form on May 25 and receiving no reply and then sending two follow up emails, on May 30 and June 15, and receiving no response from the owners, I have decided to leave this NEGATIVE AND BAD review. My husband & I decided to try Real Thai food restaurant for the first time on May 21, 2025. My husband and I got VIOLENTLY SICK FROM FOOD POISONING after eating take out from Real Thai. We both woke up at 2:00 AM after eating this food for supper and we were so sick, it was awful and so gross! Nothing worse than spewing up hunks of ginger beef and sticky rice. It was truly awful for my husband and I to be sick at the same time in the middle of the night. It is not fun to be vomiting several times over and over and to also have diarrhea at the same time, coming out of both ends at once so to speak. We didn't feel well for several days after this food poisoning. When we order take out we usually place a big order so we have left overs for a couple of nights, but we ended up throwing away all of the remaining Thai food the next morning it was such a waste of money and food. Do not go this restaurant unless you want to be sick. As they did not reply to any of my communications I will be reporting them to VIHA health inspectors. STAY AWAY!!! Just to prove this not a fake review, this is our order information "Real Thai Restaurant - Order #1033572606 confirmed", this is what we ordered: 1 x 2. Vegetarian Spring Roll $12.95 1 x S1. Real Thai Cashew Delight $21.95 1 x Ill. Namtok khoa moo yang $23.95 1 x S3. Ginger Beef $22.95 1 x Sticky Rice $6.95 1 x Plain Rice $7.00 Total: $95.75 + $4.79...
Read moreThis is my first review. I was so angry about the food and service. I need to share my experience here especially for families with kids that are unable for eat spicy food.
We have kids with us for dinner and we empathize few times to request for non spicy food. The menu is not clearly shown if the food is spicy or not. We ask the waitress and confirm the spicy level when we take the order. However, one of the dish that the waitress highly recommended was so spicy. We felt being cheated. Because we had already eaten a few bites so we didn't ask to change the dish. But the kids can’t take any bite. We felt so disappointed.
In addition, there is no toilet inside the restaurant. You have to go out of the restaurant in order to access to the toilet. It was drizzling that day, and it would be very inconvenient if you had to go to the toilet.
When it came time to pay the bill, the waitress had automatically added a 20% service charge. I was happy to pay the service charge if the waitress did her job nice. But I felt it was a bit dishonest for her to add it to the bill herself.
I am not recommending...
Read moreReal Thai delivers an exciting blend of bold flavors and warm hospitality. I sampled two standout dishes that left a lasting impression.
The Wing Zap, deep-fried chicken wings paired with a spicy Thai-style sauce, were a knockout. The wings were perfectly crispy and well-marinated, while the sauce brought the holy trinity of Thai flavor—salty, spicy, and sour—in perfect harmony.
Next was the Namtok Khoa Moo Yang, a grilled pork shoulder dish dressed in lime juice and a fragrant Thai sauce, topped with cilantro, mint, and red onions. The pork was incredibly tender, and the flavors were bright, zesty, and aromatic—refreshing yet deeply satisfying.
Real Thai offers two menus: a standard one with familiar Thai staples, and a more adventurous Esaan menu featuring regional specialties that are definitely worth exploring. Service was friendly and attentive throughout, adding to an already enjoyable experience.
I was just visiting from out of town, but if I lived nearby, this would easily be a regular spot. Highly...
