Good afternoon,
I wanted to take a moment and express how bad of an experience we had last night.
We’ve stayed in the hotels several times and I’ve never encountered or had such a bad experience ,ever.
Then I had planned for or a beautiful dinner at the wildflower. I should have known it was going to less than pleasant right from the start.
The lady working the hostess table (a manager I believe, tall brunette) was very unpleasant and frankly looked like she didn’t want to be there. We then got seated nice 4 person table as we had friends surprise us.
The waiter started off fairly decent (might want learn the feature menu a bit better). We ordered 3 margaritas and 1 mule. This seemed to be a tough task . I might add there was probably 30 patrons in the entire restaurant. It took 13 minutes to get drinks. To be honest they were not good. Bartender could probably use some assistance. We then ordered some appies and mains . My wife ordered a steak (well done) her preference, and I had scallops and short ribs.
My scallops came out and they were really good. Then the mains (our friends ordered another steak (medium ) and short ribs as well.
The meals came out and we started eating and the minute we cut into my wife’s steak it was cooked medium/rare. We called the waiter over who was shocked and said hold on he will fix it. Unfortunately after 7 minutes the rest of us started to eat . The steak came back out 12 minutes later. We fully ate and my wife ate pretty much by herself.
Not even an apology from anyone (the female tall brunette) brought it back out. Our minds were blown. But wait , it gets worse. We sat for quite some time without drinks as the waiter felt better talking to his colleagues rather than servicing customers. We quickly decided to try and get out asap fast as possible. We asked for the bills , we split amongst the two couples. My mind was completely blown away when I saw the full amount of my wife’s steak still on the bill. Any other restaurant would have fully removed this entirely from the bill or at minimum discounted the issue. This is supposed to be a high end restaurant. The chef can’t even cook a steak? I won’t even get started on the service at the mallard. The waiter was brutal. Please feel free to ask the bartender how many people complained. I’m a frequent customer at other fairmonts but I’ve never had such poor service , ever!
Please speak to all parties and educate them on customer service.
Crazy. I expect way better service especially after spending $1000 at the same building throughout the day. I certainly hope someone from the fairmont would contact...
Read moreLast night’s dinner was the fall special 3-course meal at the Wildflower located inside the Fairmont Whistler. We sensed it was already off to a great start when, at the front of the house, we were received with a warm greeting from hostess, Marisabelle. This warmth continued on as we had Topher, a delightful and jovial gentleman assigned to our table, who proved to be also quite knowledgeable about the menu and passionate over the food they serve which made us even more excited about our dinner choices. For appetizers, we decided to order 2 different ones and switch midway. The tomato bisque was divine; light yet also rich; the consistency perfect (not watery nor too dense) and the amount of balsamic vinegar drizzled on top was the perfect amount to give the soup a sweet, sour, salty contrast that made every spoonful feel like a warm hug. The seafood chowder was everything you’d want it to be; perfectly seasoned, nice consistency, and a generous amount of a variety of seafood that there’s no need for your spoon to swim aimless in your bowl to find those elusive ingredients noted in the menu. This soup brings nostalgia of those cold, lazy afternoons that made you glad that you were exactly where you wanted to be…just quietly watching the rain fall outside your window while you enjoy the best thing this moment offers: joy, warmth, and, even for a brief moment, contentment all packed in your bowl. The duck breast was the only choice at our table and it was a definite winner; the different sauces drizzled along the rim of the plate elevated the already tender and savory dish. I only wished I requested the duck skin be made crispier. Well, that makes for a good incentive to go back. When our deserts came, the toffee pudding ordered by the celebrant came with a lit candle light, a perfectly written ‘’Happy Birthday” along the wide rim of the plate in chocolate. Thank you for wonderful creations, pastry chef Kevin. Best of all, Topher delivered the cake while singing the birthday song. The whole dinner experience was top-notch from the 1st greeting to our goodbyes plus the vibe at the restaurant was also relaxed and upbeat which further contributed to our delightful dinner experience. It’s wonderful to have a superb restaurant right at the hotel which you go to not just because of its convenient location but it’s actually a place you look forward to going to and would even drive to so you can enjoy their delicious food and drinks while in a great atmosphere. Our whole experience was definitely one that we’ll forever remember with great fondness. Thank you so much to the entire...
Read moreNot a good experience at breakfast here today. The manager lady was incapable of solving the simplest sitting issue. Breakfast here is over $50, yet they crammed 5 of us at a small table in the busiest spot in front of omelette making station where people were bumping into my husband all the time. We were clearly inconveniencing people around us with how many chairs they crammed and so i asked to be moved to a larger table that was just vacated. They said that they need to clean it - okay then clean it? Then the staff at the front who were mostly helpful said and i quote ‘our manager will open a roomy table for you at the back’, a few minutes later the manager emerges and proceeds to lead us to the same table we said we didn’t want 5 mins ago. i asked where is the larger table at the back they were talking about, she said she doesn’t know, and that maybe they can clean the dirty one for us, which honestly could have been cleaned 100 times over since we started that conversation but yet the table continues to stand there dirty with one guy just very slowly sort of attending to it. Finally just sat down at the original crammed table, where noone bothered to make any more room by removing cups even though only 2 people were having coffee for instance. We were half way through our breakfast by the time the manager came back and said that that our bigger table is ready. Like, what? I have no idea how they function if they can’t clean and set a table in 15 minutes. I had many waitressing jobs and honestly would be fired immediately if u couldn’t clean a table quickly. Manager is definitely at fault here for not being able to run a restaurant. I love paying $250 for breakfast while being constantly bumped and...
