All Around OK Meal
Food
Chicken - three different sauces - Yang Yum (sweet spicy), H.B.G. (honey, butter, garlic) and Kalbi (Korean short rib BBQ sauce
I liked the hint of heat from the spice in the Yang Yum but in general prefer a stronger heat and spice level
All sauces are on the sweeter side and none of the flavours were pronounced to my liking
That's no criticism to this restaurant but more my palette and what I usually prefer
The chicken is breaded and comes in bite sized chunks
Jap-Chae
This side was pretty standard and unremarkable Again, flavours more on the mild side but confident with other places I've had this dish
Coleslaw
It was OK, nothing special, appeared to be just shredded cabbage with a sauce on top, orange in colour, perhaps mayo based, mild in flavour, not a sauce I've come across before
Service
Service was fine, staff member kept me updated on the status of my order while I waited
Atmosphere
Had takeout but dining room, furniture and decor were inviting and felt current
Pricing
I'm not sure what this restaurant's strategy is when it comes to pricing but their price structure was somewhat annoying
Extra charge for sauces except for one, extra charge for sides unless you chose plain rice
My preference would be to just add these changes to the price of the dish / combo / meal
Summary
This place will likely appeal to those looking for a Korean fried chicken fix and who enjoy sweet, sugary sauces that are on the milder side when it comes to flavour
If I returned. I'd opt for a poke...
Read moreI've had my fair share of Korean fried chicken here in Winnipeg but this place had me wanting more with each bite, the authenticity is hella consistent!
I got the honey combo, salt & pepper & the caramalized chicken bites to go since inside was hella busy, I literally finished all of it in one go 😂
PROS • deeply rich Korean fried chicken flavors • suprised by the amount of chicken for the price • colesale salad was a nice refreshing touch
CONS • parking - it's downtown, always hard to find parking
besides that I will definitely becoming back here for my Korean fried chicken...
Read moreA rare 5/5 for a unique-vibes restaurant. We ordered the salt & pepper and Rose boneless chicken thighs. They were crispy and flavourful on the outside and soft and meaty on the inside. The “chicken box” also came with creamy coleslaw that even my wife - who doesn’t like coleslaw - actually enjoyed. There seems to be a number of different sauces as well as authentic Korean dishes that I’ll have to try next time. Furthermore, a local artist has used the restaurant as a mini-gallery and even painted a mural on the wall. The art is colourful, eye-catching and whimsical and much of it uses local scenery as inspiration. It makes the restaurant...
