Fantastic 360 degree view is spoiled by over-priced sub-par food. The concept of eating at a restaurant with a view from the 18th floor in downtown Santiago Chile is spoiled by the over-priced sub-par food. Service is marginal because customer must raise a hand to have any action taken. A fine restaurant wait-staff are constantly looking out for the customer's needs and anticipate before being asked.
Focaccia bread provided at the outset was very good with a nice taste and texture. Also ordered the Roast beef parmigiana in a mild yellow chili curry sauce which was served quickly and was quite tender and tasty. Also tried the Mediterranean table with variety of Italian ham, cheese, buffalo mozzarella, mushrooms and olives which were good but nothing out of the ordinary. Everything after that went downhill.
Ordered Locos Crocantes (roasted shrimp, with bell pepper sauce and parmesan) which were tasteless, overcooked, not served hot and were quite rubbery and tough. I tried to eat one and finally gave up and told the waiter I couldn't continue; fortunately, I was not charged for this terrible attempt to offer cooked shrimp to a customer. Also tried the LOCOS COMO EN LA PLAYA (Cooked mollusk with mayonnaise potatoes and green sauce) which were also quite disappointing (tasteless, rubbery and tough).
Needless to say, I would not recommend this place to anyone and especially not at these prices. There are many reasonably priced restaurants in Santiago where the chefs actually care and make sure that the food is properly prepared before serving it. Don't waste your time...
Read moreAs a Chilean visiting my country after several years , after reading the reviews mostly talking about the amazing view of the city I have to say I was badly impressed about the service, we came in without reservations and in a very non polite way were almost told to seat wherever we wanted, order cocktails that came after we ordered the food because the waiter forgot what we ordered, the whole dining experience was very unpleasant with a very distracted waiter and his superior or whatever he was having a tantrum because we didn’t get our coffee slamming a door on his way back in the kitchen. In my life and after years of coming back to visit I have ever experienced something like this. On another note I have to compliment the kitchen, food was very good, nice presentation. The gentleman at the bar segment was extremely friendly and gave us information about different bottles of pisco Peruvian and Chilean regarding flavor and strength, was a fun moment that left us with a bit more content about the experience. To be a place geared to tourists visiting for fine dining I would never go back there. Definitely don’t recommend it...
Read moreI gave my visit to Restaurant Giratorio, a 5 star but I would like to be fair and give them a 4.8. 2 less points because to my surprise, the menu was only digital, for a class restaurant this is just not acceptable. Also, the menu had no soups or the well know and delicious Mango Sour. The food and the plate presentation was excellent. The waiter was Matias, he did an excellent job but half way through our evening, the restaurant shuffle the staff and we were left alone with no quality service. The view was fantastic, after it got dark the interior light was too bright which reduced the view to the outside. The piano player was excellent but by 8 pm the place was loud and lost the intimate feeling. We had several plates, mostly seafood, the "Ostiones del Norte" was fantastic. We did not park but I believe parking at the restaurant was available. The area were the restaurant was did not feel safe so we took an Uber. I recomend to go before it gets dark and before the crowd gets there. My wife and I had a...
