Visited this Cha Chaan Teng in Fortress Hill with my sis and my friend during afternoon tea time before going to the Oil Street Art Space. . We all ordered an Afternoon Tea Set. I ordered Baked Beef Tongue with Tomato & Cheese with Rice (HKD41). The rice and beef tongue was covered thoroughly with tomato sauce and cheese, and the cheese was really stringy. The beef tongue came in two large pieces, which had a tender texture and was savoury.
I added HKD3 for a Cold Milk Tea. The milk tea had a fragrance milk aroma and blended nicely with the tea.
My sis ordered Baked Chicken & Vegetables with Cream Cheese in Portuguese Style with Rice (HKD41). It looked extremely creamy and its slightly burnt surface enhanced its attractiveness.
My friend ordered Rice with Honey Barbecue Pork & Pan-fried Egg with Scallion Oil (HKD46). The barbecue pork looked slightly dry. Didn't know abt the taste coz I didnt try. . The resto was quite crowded and super popular, we had to wait for a while before entering. The price was economical for their afternoon set, and the resto was efficient, providing good...
Read moreThe chaa cheng tang I used to go has closed down. I always thought their satay beef noodles were the best in Hong Kong—such a shame ☹️. After checking recommendations for satay beef noodles in the Hong Kong Island area from a foodie group 沙嗲牛肉麵關注組, I decided to try this one.
It was already 90% full on a weekday morning. I placed my order quickly, but after waiting 15 minutes with no sign of my food, I had to follow up. Five minutes later, they brought me pork chop noodles instead 😥. Well, after waiting a bit longer, my correct order finally arrived.
The satay sauce was on the sweet side. I didn’t switch the instant noodles to Nissin Demae Ramen, and surprisingly, the noodles weren’t soggy even at the end—meaning they were slightly undercooked when first served. The iced milk tea lacked much tea flavour.
One good thing is that if you want to add toast to your breakfast, you just pay extra for it. They don’t make you get a full set and end up too full.
Overall, it was just average. Maybe other dishes here are better? I might give it...
Read moreThis is a very popular Cha Chaan Teng at Hong Kong Island side. You may take Mtr and drop off at Fortress Hill. Cross the road from exit A to Wing On Street and turn right, that is the restaurant location.
There is always a long line of people waiting for entering. Breakfast sets are priced around $40. Noodle was very hot. BBQ pork was thick, fresh and tender. There were around 4 to 5 pieces of BBQ pork. Very yummy. Must try.
For the satay beef, the beef was not tender and dry, however remained acceptable.
Milk tea was just normal. Taste and fragrance were not strong enough, however very hot.
Inside the resturant was very crowded but the sitting area remained comfortable. Their staff's service was attentive and fast as the owner managed the ordering and...
