With its rave reviews, I have decided to try out this little Indian restaurant tucked away in the Queen Street Cooked Food Market. My friends and I went during lunch hours on a weekday and the food market was packed with people. It was hard to tell which tables were assigned to the Chautari Restaurant. Luckily, we were able to find some empty seats. The price of their lunch sets ranges from HK$85 (Beef Curry) to HK$125 (Lam Chop 2pc). All of their sets come with naan or rice, plus soft drinks, tea or coffee. With additional cost, can also choose Lassi or Masala tea. We tried Saag Paneer, Chicken Masala, Lamb Curry, Plain Naan, Garlic Naan, and Mango Lassi. All of the dishes were highly flavored. The sauce of Chicken Masala and Lamb Curry were both buttery smooth, along with decent amount of chunky meats. The Saag Paneer included many layers of textures & flavors; and the best part was that they were generous on paneer! The meal was above my expectation. I will definitely come back, most likely for dinner as I would love to try out other dishes on their menu.

Had to visit the other top Indian Restaurant in Hong Kong. I’ve been many times before but this time was easily the best. The starters are very underrated and well worth getting. Go for the 9/10 tandoori chicken over the mixed tandoori as the fish tandoori isn’t as good as the chicken (I’d rather just get more chicken and lamb separately). The 7.5/10 paneer tikka wasn’t as good as their paneer mains. Their 8.5 lamb biryani is always a good choice and hard to beat from the rice-based options. As for the mains, 9/10 butter chicken and 8.5/10 chicken tikka masala are their strongest dishes and a staple every time. I hadn’t had the beef bhuna before and it was a solid 8/10. Unfortunately, the 7.5/10 paneer aloo was a little disappointing so I’d definitely go back to their Saag Aloo again next time. I highly recommend getting the butter naan over any other bread.

A staple and one of my favorite Indian food spots in Hong Kong. Situated in a cooked food center, this small unassuming kitchen serves up some of the most flavorful dishes you can find. My personal favorite is the chicken korma. The chicken is tender and the sauce is creamy and full of flavor. It perfectly pairs with their naan. Their naans are massive and fresh and you could just eat them alone without any sauce if you wanted to. Lunch sets are quite affordable and the dinner a la carte pricing is fair as well. I will always come back!
