An Aussie-inspired cafe, known for its sourdough and coffee. I visited their first branch on Peel Street and the food did not disappoint at all! With its limited seating of around 10-15 pax, it can get very crowded especially on weekends. It seem to be very popular with tourists as well. Be prepared to wait if you are looking to dine-in. Alternatively, there are free seating along the cafeās corridor.
āļø I had their latte made with their house-blend, Peel Street Espresso Blend - roasted for espresso, notes of dark fruits, blueberries, plumbs, slight acidity, milk chocolate.
š« Loved every bite of the Ricotta Toast. It was with house-made ricotta, fresh blueberries, honey, and thyme on Fineprintās Sourdough. Despite enjoying their food, I am hesitant to recommend this place as the service was disappointing. During my one hour in the cafe, I witnessed two negative situation. One of the staff cleared a guestās untouched food while they were outside taking photos. To be fair, I understood the guestās frustration as their belongings were still on the table, indicating that they are still in the cafe. The staff couldāve approached the guest and explained the seating policy or asked before removing the food. To make it worst, the staff was unapologetic and ignored the guests, resulting in a more heated situation.
Another incident which triggered me further was while I was reaching down to pick up something from the floor. Unintentionally, I was in the way of the staff. Instead of politely waiting for me to move, the staff repeatedly said āexcuse meā about five times before I had the chance to respond. When I asked why she felt the need to do that, she simply replied, āI need to do my job.ā This response further aggravated me and I confronted her before I left the cafe. I made an effort to understand her point, or if she was carrying something warm (but not at all), her handling of the situation was simply unacceptable.
I would recommend the food and coffee, and if you would like to avoid negative experience, I recommend to take-out. For someone who values good service, I wouldnāt return as often as I would like if the service does not improve.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy visit to Fineprint was pre-planned before I arrived in Hong Kong. I have to admit I was drawn to its proximity to my hotel but was sceptical about the good reviews it had on Google. Coming from Malaysia, where chain cafes tend to falter in consistency, I had my expectations lowered for this case since Fineprint had several locations across Hong Kong itself. Little did I know that I stumbled upon probably the best sourdough Iāve ever had in my life! Not even exaggerating here!
The space is compact yet incredibly cosy, with bar seats, a communal table and a bustling kitchen. It was easy to jump in, grab a coffee and a bite, and tune out into your own world, amidst the buzzing atmosphere. I managed to enjoy some downtime with my book ā the staffs were mindful, considerate and naturally avoided interrupting me while I was engrossed in my reading.
I ordered a long black with the brew of the day, and a roast beef sourdough toastie (HK$80). Layers of thin beef slices (albeit slightly under-seasoned), caramelised onion, Dijon mustard, chutney and melted cheddar wedged between two slices of airy, crispy and savoury sourdough bread. The bread was undoubtedly the highlight here.
On my last day in Hong Kong, I stopped by again to grab coffee to-go, and ended up buying coffee beans and house made granola. I was told that my purchases entitled me to two additional coffees on the house, but I declined because I had already purchased my freshly brewed coffee. Instead, the staffs were accommodating and kind enough to offer me fresh pastries instead ā to which I chose two pieces of sea salt chocolate chip cookies, which were an absolute treat.
Iāll definitely be making my return to Fineprint on my next trip to Hong Kong, and would highly recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWalked in and it was crowded and very tight. The line is to the left of the wall. The menu will be shown to you when you're in line. Seats were limited so everyone was very close. Lots of moving during waiting in line since it's a narrow space.
I looked at the menu and it had their seasonal jqm toasts on their menu. I didn't order it as I saw jams on the table. We ordered (1:32 pm) and was handed our number. You'll find your own seats. They didn't explain if we can use the jam or not. I was wondering why anyone would pay for the jam toast if the jam is free on the table.
We saw many people get their food who ordered after us so I asked the server. Then our food came out within 5-10 minutes. We waited from 1:32 to 2:03.
Ricotta toast - one of my favorite toasts. They were generous with the ricotta. I do like the drizzle of honey on top.
Mac and cheese toasties - The sourdough was very very crispy. It was hard to cut with a knife so just pick it up with your hand. The combination worked well. I tasted more if the sourdough than the Mac and cheese. Only complaint is that they weren't generous with the Mac and cheese. The sourdough didn't stick well together with the little amount of cheese. It broke apart as it was picked it.
Iced Coffee - it's what...
