I had been eagerly anticipating this meal, as I hadn't had teppanyaki in 10 years. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I realized that it was a session-based meal. My session was at 1:45 pm, meaning all the diners for that session had to wait outside until the previous diners finished. We ended up getting into the restaurant at 2 pm.
The teppan setting was fascinating. We were led into a large, dimly lit room with all the diners seated in a circular manner around four chefs at the center, each facing a quadrant of the table. It was an intense setting, with diners all in full view of each other.
I ordered the Australian Wagyu Sliced Beef (+HK$655) and added Foie Gras (+HK$85). While some of the food was relatively good given its price point, the service was rather atrocious.
Food I Enjoyed - The Spanish Red Prawn with Angel Hair Noodles was an interesting take. The red prawns sat on a bed of crispy angel hair noodles, with a strong, intense prawn flavor that I quite enjoyed.
The Australian Wagyu Slices, which had a good amount of fat and seasoning, though it was only two slices. I didn't mind as I believed the fried rice served at the end would be filling.
I was looking forward to the foie gras slider. While it was cooked well, it was a bit too intense, as the chef used butter, making it overly rich. I wished for a bit more balance, perhaps an acidic component.
The rest of the dishes were okay but nothing exceptional, or outstanding. The fried rice was a complete letdown.
Service and Atmosphere: Don't expect Michelin-starred level service. The waiter didn't seem to know much about the ingredients, and when we asked more about where the seafood is sourced and its flavour profile, we could tell they didn't know and so chose not to order those items.
We placed our order around 2:15 pm, and midway through our meal, the service staff informed us that we had to move to another table at 3 pm as they had to prepare the area for the next session. This upset many diners, as it was poor planning on the restaurant's part, not the diners'. For a session-based meal, appropriate buffer times should be planned to avoid such issues, especially at a higher price point.
Towards the middle of our meal, the chefs rushed the orders. They made the final fried rice dish in bulk, so we watched the griddle, wondering if we would get the same portion. Straight after making the dish, service from the other table was ushered into another room in a rushed manner. This was bad as diners ordering different items got their rice dish depending on when they finished their meal. As soon as one quadrant started clearing out, the service staff rushed to clean the area, causing a ruckus and making it noisy for other diners. We felt in the way, despite not having finished our course.
Having finished my sliced beef earlier than some diners, I left to use the restroom. Upon returning, I found the diners ushered elsewhere while we're cleaning the room for the next session. I was left wandering the halls poking my head into each room until the staff member who I'd ask where the restroom was, saw that I was lost and then told me to head to the bar where our session diners. were cramped, eating their bowls of fried rice. This was so rushed that We had to sit on the bar table with high chairs and cramped spaces and they hadn't provided chopsticks, moved our drinks or sauces. Many diners were visibly unhappy and complaining.
Final Thoughts The dish I was most looking forward to, the fried rice, was unfortunately the most disappointing. It was under-seasoned and bland. After asking other diners, they all agreed it lacked flavor. This disappointing end to a much-anticipated meal was a result of rushed service and poor planning by the restaurant. Sino Plaza is filled with amazing restaurants, like my favorite ex-restaurant, Roganic just downstairs, and Forum next door. I didn't expect such service issues given the competition, but I was wrong. It's a shame. Unfortunately, I wouldn't find this place reliable to bring business clients or for an...
Read moreBest Teppanyaki Experience - perfect for celebrations with your loved ones 🤍 . I had a delightful experience at God of Teppanyaki - I was sold on the views 🌃, the service 🙇🏻♀️, and of course the food 🍱. This restaurant is located right by Sino Plaza - you get the whole Kowloon City view in front of you while you enjoy your meal. . Their Fujimi 🗻 Teppanyaki Set caught our eye - it had basically everything fresh Lobster 🦞 , Fresh Surf Clam, US Steak 🥩 and Wagyu Beef. Talk about the perfect surf and turf! But it doesn’t stop there, it also has salad 🥗 , soup 🥣 , fried rice 🍚 and dessert 🍨! I honestly didn’t expect the experience to take 2.5-3 hours, the chef really puts on a show and cook the items fresh in front of you. What I also didn’t expect was how fresh the ingredients were - the lobster was still moving in front of us as he cook it. Fell in love with the Flame Surf Clam, Lobster and Wagyu Clear Soup - the surf clam with its sauce was mouth-watering. The lobster was paired with their signature cocktail which freshens the mouth palette. Finally, the wagyu had such beautiful marbling and was so tender. We got the US Steak - and this was one of the most tender steak I have ever tasted in a while. It just melt in my mouth, and I didn’t have the chew as much. Highly recommend checking this place out - especially if you have a special occasion to celebrate! . Read moreOur family of 3 had lunch teppanyaki here for the very first time on 19.9.2025. Ordered a 2-pax meal @ $690 (with lobster), a 1-pax set lunch @ $290 and some sashimi a la carte. They said the 2-pax set was a promotion offer as its price would have been double the price we paid. The total checkout price was $13xx.00
Apparently the lobster was a frozen seafood, only of the size comparable to a big shrimp. It didn’t move a muscle when being cooked.
Also served were 3 tiny abalones, 4 slices of US beef, some beef cubes, a single ultra thin cut of fish, a small frozen scallop, 3 bowls of fried rice, 3 cups of soup and a few small pieces of caramelled white bread as dessert. That was all for the 3 of us.
The taste of food was nothing to be complained of. But the amount of food was really scarce. Three other couples were also seated at the same table. The one abalone a couple had was bigger than 10 small abalones we had. It was live too. Of course the price they had to pay was several times ours.
The waitress who received our orders did not care to explain much when I asked more about the menu. Another waiter was really quick to take away my dish before I finished everything.
If I will ever come back again, any so-called promotion offer must be...
