Haveli Authentic Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

Indian food is my favourite so I can almost eat it everyday. This time tried Haveli on Tsing fung street. The decor was nice and the restaurant was spacious. Started with crispy and spicy poppadoms. Ordered the Lamb samosa which was divine because it was finely minced lamb with peas in a rich gravy. Tried the Tandoori fish tikka which was different because not many places do Tandoori fish, and here it was salmon. The salmon was flakey flavoured with mild tandoori spices. For curries had the paneer kadai which is cooked with tomatoes and cheese, I found the tomato sauce really sweet For rice I chose the spinach and garlic rice because it was lovely and green. The rice was soft and fluffy. As well as rice, I had the keema naan (lamb) and amritsari naan (potatoes). Disappointed- Waste of money & time.

We ordered through delivery, and I was really let down by the whole experience. We tried garlic naan, lacha parontha, and papad masala, but the biggest disappointment was the dahi bhalla & mango lassi.

Instead of the soft, flavorful dish I expected, it was just dense and tasted like it was made entirely of flour. The mango lassi was even worse—it didn’t taste like mango lassi at all. It had a strange flavor that suggested it was an expired product or something was mixed in that made it taste off.

The naan and parontha were undercooked and doughy, which didn't help either. The only decent item was the papad masala, but it wasn't enough to redeem the meal.

This is now called Royal Indian restaurant or something like that, but I found it as "Paleo" via Food Panda. The food is OK I guess, perhaps the portions are a little small but taste is not bad. The nutritional information is a bit questionable, but if you know what you're eating then you can overcome this. I think the worst thing is the customer service. With so few customers walking in, you would think that they would be more attentive and polite in their tone but they really don't care. No greeting, no thanks, no masks.
