Crushed is my go-to spot in SYP. In fact, I love it so much that I almost didn’t write a review because I don’t want to lose my favourite seat at the bar. This shop is the perfect place to unwind with friends or pick up a special bottle to bring to your next dinner party. They have the most fabulously curated selection of wine spanning a spectrum of varietals and regions. THIS IS THE PLACE to find those unique and rare finds. And the food? Literally chef's kiss. There is a carefully crafted selection of small and large plates to share -- and even better -- the menu changes! Each dish is thoughtfully designed to enhance the flavors of the wines, creating a harmonious pairing that tantalizes the taste buds. Order the bread with yuzu kusho whipped butter, the aubergine with whipped roasted chile and chocolate mole, the tartare, and definitely save room for the exceptional peanut butter pie. What truly sets Crushed apart is the exceptional service. The absolutely delightful sommeliers are well-versed in providing recommendations tailored to individual preferences; their willingness to share their knowledge and guide newbies through the diverse offerings. Their attentiveness and genuine enthusiasm create an atmosphere where you don’t feel like a guest, but a friend. p.s. Come empty-handed so that you have room to carry some take-away...

Read moreI was at Crushed Wine Bar earlier this week for a special dinner put on by Gentle Books and it was my first time eating at the venue! The food was abundant and delicious, and the French onion dip and angel hair prawn pasta were standouts. Simple, classic and tasted like a big warm hug - would definitely recommend. The service was homely, attentive and I my glass was never empty. I loved that the staff gave takeaway boxes as part of the service without being asked - encouraging people to take the leftovers home and ensuring that there was minimal food waste.
The only downside of being upstairs in the dining area were the acoustics - we were a large, loud group and at times the sound was overbearing. I've been told since that there are some absorbing panels coming soon, so that should hopefully alleviate future such situations! All in all, an amazing casual bar and eatery that's excellent...
