We dined at Himalaya Restaurant on Tai Wong Street East back in February and found this to be an ok place for South Asian food in Wan Chai.
Seating area is casual, simple and atmospheric, reminded us more of restaurants tried in Nepal and then India. Staff were polite and service timely. Menu features the expected range of Indian food and Nepalese dishes that many are likely less familiar with. Prices are higher than what you usually spend for South Asian food here in HK.
During our meal we tried the classic Chicken Tikka Masala (HK$99) that was ok. The curry was very creamy and a fair serving size. Chicken had the right tikka bbq taste, the masala sauce was good but not a favourite of ours. We also tried their Kukhura ko Masu (HK$85). This is a Nepalese curry that was much nicer, rich in flavours and better overall taste.
Palau rice (HK$43) didn't have enough saffron fragrance or flavour and felt well overpriced. Garlic Naan (HK$24) was very well baked and tasted perfect. Cup of Masala tea (HK$22) was just fine.
In the end, this was an ok meal at Himalaya Restaurant in Wanchai. Probably not enough to bring us back, given that there are other places around Wan Chai and Hong Kong in general that serve up tastier South Asian food at similar or cheaper prices. However, if you are in the area and really fancying a curry, this...
Read moreThis is a nice restaurant, but I think I may not come again because something is not good. This restaurant’s food is not all dish is good, some are bad, some are good. First ,the soup is good, the seasoning is not bad, Four taste: sweet, sour, spicy, salty all are balance. Second, the Tendori chicken is absolutely good, I can smell it when I was walking to the restaurant, that’s mean it is smell good. Eat that it was not so cheap of the texture. Third, that is IMPORTANT. I order a grill lamb but the lamb is old. It is hard to eat. I don’t like bad Ingredients. So Cheap! However, the naan bread so delicious. The taste was good. Lassi is ok sweet, not bad. No need $500 for 3 people but we are so FULL at last. That was a good about the price. The room is comfortable, have air conditioning but not big, so summer don’t go to it. 4 hours later my body was full of India grill smell...
Overall: It is a not bad restaurant. But the ingredients is too cheap. Chicken is yummy. Soup of the seasoning is not bad. The naan bread is fresh and better than other shop of India food. Lassi is not bad, but need more flavours. This restaurant is not too expensive but it is easy to full. Comfortable but so hard to find this restaurant. A little hot, and...

The menu contains a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Nepalese dumplings, Chicken Tikka, and Biryani are among the dishes you should try, along with other cuisines.
