I used to come quite often a few years back, their food quality has dropped, service wasn’t great either. We waited very long for their order because the staff didn’t teach us to use the QR code, we thought we ordered but didn’t know there is a confirmation page where you have to sent your order after you selected. So we waited 20 mins for the food and realized we didn’t order anything until we asked the server. Then waited another 20 mins for food. Hence we stayed like 90mins at the restaurant and they wanted to kick us out of the room while actually there are other customers will eating but no one else if waiting. Think they just want to get off work soon which is poor work ethics. I ordered the vinegar fish and it’s just not delicious. Veggies are a bit too hard as well. Just not that great of an experience sadly.

My wife and I love Ootoya. Simply real good food at super reasonable prices. Very well made Japanese food that is delicious and comforting. This location doesn't have signs outside the building. But basically it's in the "M" building on Tang Lung st (follow the address), and head inside, take elevators on the right to the 5th floor. Definitely get the combo meals. The steamed egg that comes with most combos are a nice touch, and a must order side dish if not in the combo. The chicken thighs and pork belly are both amazing in their own way. Everything is good here. We are always happy to find an Ootoya nearby when traveling and can't decide what to eat.

Originated from Japan. Most of the meat and fish are imported there. The Japanese chief chef works well to maintain a quality standard as equally good as in Japan. Offers various kind of meal set and a la cart. Lunch and dinner menu are basically the same but there are skewers and sashimi available at dinner time. Price point is not low but very fair for what you get. Peak hours always got queue and reservation not accepted. So better go ahead or after the crowd. Ultimately, there are many restaurants in the building as backup. 😅

I wrote the review below about the Ootoya in CWB. I went to their restaurant in Central a couple of times recently the food is better as is the service. Decent food. Nothing to rave about but good value for money. I have gone back and will continue to do so but not to the CWB location. ‐------------- I don't see anything Japanese about this place. Typical Hong Kong place catering to local market that prioritizes cheap over good. The food sucks. It was glorified Chinese food served on Japanese style plates. My wife's grilled ox tongue was so tough we could barely chew it. My daughter ordered what should have been tore kare age and was fried chicken with a few veg in a sweet and sour sauce. My tonkatsu was pretty mediocre as well. Go elsewhere. Oh and the service was...
