Central Soho and sheung wan surroundings are always full with surprises with lots of nice restaurants around. Who would have thought there is a shanghainese restaurant in this area and it looks like a pretty decent place so I've decided to give it a go.
It was still quite early on a Thursday night so it was only me at the time. Very generous seating spaces with some nice Chinese decos. There are quite a selection of wontons varieties and since it's a shanghainese restaurant, I ordered the shepherd's purse (薺菜 ) wontons and the vegetarian meat (梅菜素瘦肉)wontons. To pair with them I ordered the Soy Sauce simmered soup noodles with dried prawns (蔥油開陽煨麵) and a bowl of the traditional Chinese soup (響鑼蟲草花淮山薏仁雞湯)
There are 4 pieces of wontons for each type and both types were really unexpectedly nice. The shepherd's purse wonton was lightly flavoured and paired well with the soup, while the vegetarian wontons were kinda crunchy with lots of ingredients. The noodle soup was really rich in flavour and definitely a must try if you like the taste of the dried prawns. The traditional Chinese soup was also rich is both flavour and ingredients and really worthwhile trying if you are into Chinese soups!
Overall it was a pleasant surprise to find such place around central and a must go place if you really like wontons!

Read moreWent for lunch over the weekend, ordered the set for 1 person, wheat gluten with mushroom and xiaolongbao as starter, szechuan style fried pork chop with vegetable rice, and lastly glutinous rice balls as dessert. The wheat gluten starter did not taste good, xiaolongbao took a while to arrive and it felt like straight out of wellcome fridge. Fried pork chop was extremely salty and oily. I normally would love this dish from any restaurant but this was terrible. Rice wine glutinous rice balls was absolutely bland and has no rice wine flavour at all. The set comes with a drink which I opted for the soya, it was just water with sugar. The bill came a whopping $188 plus tea charge (glass of water upfront) plus service (which there werent practically any) and makes it $213. For this price gets you a good meal from a ton of good places around Sheung Wan. Maybe just go the ramen places next door where this money feeds two. I love leaving good reviews for restaurants I enjoyed and rarely I ran into any that extremely upset me, but very unfortunately this was the one. I would not recommend coming here if you are looking for an average meal that wouldn’t upset your stomach. At least not on a weekend when you are supposed to enjoy every...
Read moreLoving this place and strongly recommend it if you find yourself in Hong Kong. We had dinner here and tried the sweet and sour pork ribs and they were absolutely delicious, very tender and the sauce was to die for. The sweet and sour fish fillet was another great dish selection as it was amazing! If you're a vegetarian then try the eggplant as it's very saucy and again very tasty. The place is not crowded and it's on a quiet street in Central so overall a great place to eat. The only bad thing is that they charge you for the tea and nuts they serve you as soon as you sit down, even if you don't have them, they still charge you for it and don't even ask if...
