It’s all about the roast pigeon which was outstanding. Juicy, full of flavour with crispy skin - cooked to perfection. The rest was presented in a ‘gram friendly way and some creative effort in the fusion dishes but overall the taste is entirely forgettable. If you aren’t much of a fussy gourmand but want some amazing social media pictures, you’ll enjoy it here.
Loved the decor’s attention to detail (ants and flies at the bottom of my bowls, little shop at front selling food to make at home, vintage vibe without being naff or too try hard, shiny gold teapots, cute tiny packets of wet tissues and gloves to eat the pigeon etc). Our table was very comfortable (one side had a two seater sofa) with stunning night sky views of the skyscrapers of Central.
Sadly service was not on par with price point. Staff dismissive and rushed like a cheap cha chaan teng. No one to greet you or check you had what you needed. We had to help ourselves to extra bowls and spoons from neighbouring tables. The second order of pigeon took over 20mins and we had to remind them before it turned up 5mins later so they’d obviously missed it despite being on our bill (no one except us noticed). We were forced to pay the bill at 9.30pm even though we were literally mid bite and the restaurant was closing at 10. Poor. What a shame.
So decor and one dish excellent. Food and service not worthy of the prices. So overall a ‘no’...
Read moreI don't regret coming but probably won't return. It is more like a one time experience at the price point. I completely dismissed this restaurant originally when I saw the gimmicky presentations, but some dishes offer a playful interpretation.
Should try: Roast Pigeon was cooked perfectly. Succulent and juicy. They offer gloves which is a fantastic idea to eat the small bird.
Beef char siu was tender and had good flavor and char texture. The thyme was decorative but added a nice scent.
Interesting:
Mangosten fritter is more for the look but also had a nice crab lobster sauce filling.
Meh: Charcoal Buns were sweet and savory but does not taste different from the traditional version
Sponge Xiao Lung Biao- Normally I love this dish but the change up here did not do anything for me. I wasn't too impressed by the filling nor the skin.
If you are new to or want traditional dim sum go elsewhere. Also I didn't really order from the dinner style selections. Glad I didn't because they are small portions and didn't look that novel. If you are like me and had dim sum countless numbers of times, it is fun to try things with a twist. The woman next to me kept admiring how the food was presented.
Look for the L signage and go to the second floor. Casual clean open dining room. Not crazy about the ant decals but it feeds into the playful nature of...
Read moreLove the pigeon, it's juicy and meaty and reasonably priced. The razor clams cold dish is disappointing, I would prefer the hot one instead, the flavouring was just too overwhelming. The duck tongue is good but would also prefer if there is a non spicy version as a variety. The dim sum appearance is definitely very appealing! The pear dessert is just too sweet, I can only eat the flesh and cannot drink the sweet soup at all....
I have been here before and I deliberately chose food (except pigeon) that I didn't have last time..
Must try: pigeon sweet and sour pork beetroot dumplings coconut chicken souo
Once is enough: abalone tart razor clams cold dish grouper dumplings
Considering that this is a local restaurant, the staff are very well mannered, friendly, open to provide suggestion in a polite way, approachable. Great customer service. Great amenities provided and spacious table. But it's very loud in the...
