Lunch omakase & sushi set. This is becoming my go-to sushi place in HK. There are many other similar ones in HK with their own strength, but this one has a well balance of everything — food quality, food/menu variety, atmosphere, service, and table availability, all with fair pricing. If you like sashimi, their omakase would give you real joy. I’ve tried both lunch and dinner, you can still get full before the sushi stage. Their sushi set is a bargain too (always ask for the bar table).
They may not offer top-notch fish, but after eating out so often, I find the traditional sushi places (like saito, sase) too serious and tight, lacking the fun part of omakase. We realize that we like the local ones more (as they’re normally more willing to try different things and tailor dishes to your taste), but it’s totally a personal preference.
I’m uploading photos for both of my recent visits. Photos with zoomed in sushi are those of sushi set, remaining ones are...

As our previous go-to lunch place became less inviting, we sought out for the best venue for a lazy long lunch of great value but super quality Japanese food.
We tried Sushi Gin this Friday afternoon, and were seated in the private room for the 4 of us, in a room that was for 8. The view was beautiful and it was quiet, unlike the common eating area which was full of noisy kid patrons.
We ordered a few sashimi and sushi platters and shared between us, along with a nice bottle of sake, for ard $650 each. The service was very pleasant, food fresh and reasonably good value.
Would visit again if we were...
Read moreWent to Sushi Gin at night while stumbling upon Yiu Wah Street. The place was packed! Ordered Omakase at $1480 plus tempura and sake. At this price, I have to say the food is extremely disappointing. The omakase is worth $600 max in my opinion. Look at the picture I took with the uni sushi, the seaweed is soft and soggy. The dessert was a joke, it was one strawberry plus ice cream. The strawberry was not even that great. My advice: if you must come here, ask for the a la carte menu! The omakase is a TOTAL RIP OFF! But there are a lot of restaurant options in Causeway Bay. I wouldn’t come back at all. Pictures of the a la carte menu attached for your reference. I do not...
