Hotpot is a delightful and communal dining experience, combining flavorful broths, fresh ingredients, and a variety of dipping sauces. Here’s a breakdown of what makes a hotpot meal both yummy and visually appealing:
Components of a Delicious Hotpot
Broth Options Spicy Sichuan Broth: A vibrant red broth infused with chili oil, Sichuan peppercorns, and aromatic spices. Mushroom Broth: A rich and earthy broth made with various mushrooms, garlic, and herbs, providing a soothing flavor. Tom Yum Broth: A tangy, aromatic broth with lemongrass, lime leaves, and chili, offering a refreshing kick.
Fresh Ingredients Meats: Thinly sliced beef, lamb, or chicken, beautifully arranged on platters. Seafood: Shrimp, fish fillets, and scallops, showcasing their fresh colors. Vegetables: A colorful mix of leafy greens (like bok choy), mushrooms, corn, and sliced radishes. Tofu: Firm or soft tofu, adding texture and protein.
Dipping Sauces Sesame Sauce: Creamy and nutty, perfect for drizzling over cooked items. Chili Oil: For those who love a spicy kick. Peanut Sauce: Rich and sweet, complementing the savory flavors.
Toppings and Garnishes Fresh Herbs: Cilantro, green onions, and mint add freshness and color. Chili Peppers: Sliced fresh or pickled for added heat. Noodles: Rice noodles or egg noodles, cooked to perfection and served on the side.

Read moreFinally had the chance to try CouCou hotpot place at K11 after several walk in attempts. That was because this time we walked in at 5:30pm 😂😂😂 It was a nice decorated venue. The Taiwanese mince pork served with fragrant rice that was offered at the sauce and spices counter was very good and authentic. There was also a free flow of duck blood and tofu which brought me back to the traditional "Taipei" style hotpot nights! As in the tradition of the Taiwanese Hotpots, we basically helped ourselves with everything from the cutleries inside the drawers at the table to the wet and dry napkins, even plates and bowls. 😁😁😁 Unfortunately, the service was as cold just like the blasting air conditioning. 🥶🥶🥶 The servers gave the ambience that reminded me of the old black and white horror movies where ghosts would float by in the mists. 😂😂😂They just floated by whenever we needed attention. The pond with the dry ice fog was appropriate to add 👻👻👻 to the scary effect. 3 out of 5 if we would...
Read moreFamily dinner. Perfect hotpot experience in my mind, with a wide range of delicious meat, balls, seafoods and vegetable options, varied sauce bar (I think we had at least 24 options available) and a range of soups, including pork, mushroom and tomato bases. The Sichuan soup is very generous on chili content but also, importantly, not relied on chili oil which can make the soup too heavy before you even start dipping. The soups are also regularly topped up with both soup base and extra flavour ingredients as necessary. Ordering can be done through the app, and more ordered at any time. The staff are observant.
Only feedback is to add cloth protection cover/bag, however the restaurant does provide bibs, plenty of wet wipes and plastic gloves for the shellfish.
Expensive as far as hotpot goes, but ingredients were...
