I had originally been meaning to try the famous ๅคง็ๆช (dai pai dong) right opposite. But since it was closed, I decided to give this a shot (by my own will, without getting hustled over by enthusiastic employees, of course...). I had the mantis shrimp, deep fried pork intestines, and beef & potatoes.
First off, I have to say that mantis shrimps are an absolute rip-off. For the amount of edible meat you get and the work you have to put in for that price? Just give me my prawns, lol. To add on, the plate of deep-fried instestines was a miss as well. The intenstines weren't cleaned well and tasted terribly funky. Conversely, the dish of beef and potatoes was spectacular. Tender beef cubes tossed with crisp-fluffy potato wedges all in a sweet honey-black-pepper sauce. But all things considered, I wouldn't return. Oh, and they charged me the wrong price for the mantis shrimps as they thought I had the large ones, but luckily, I raised it up.

We ordered Steamed Eel Black bean Sauce, Stir fry Leek with Dried Seafood and Baked Eggs with Fish Intestines. These are dishes i have never tried before. I love the Black bean sauce and goes well with white rice. Baked egg was my least favourite as there were too much things happening in the baked egg (rice vermicelli, mushroom, ham, fish intestines..) so it was too rich for my taste. I have to say the egg was baked to a nice crisp. (Imagine like Baked Rice)
The staff were friendly and prompt in serving us, patient with us recommending food (but not pushy).
It seems popular with the locals too.
I rated the atmosphere 4 stars because it has the feel of Dai Pai Tong (local street food stall), casual and buzzing with chatter. That should be what you are looking to experience if you choose...

Apparently after our first 2 dishes were served, we waited for at least 1.5 hours until we all given up and left. You can give their clams a try if youโre a fan of sand. Wanted to say that there were a lot of customers ordering similar dishes and the kitchen produces them in large quantity and the quality suffers.
It could have been a honest mistake but we were also over charged on the bill. When we wanted to reconfirm on it, the staff wanted to brush us off insisting that it was right. It was only recalculated again as we insisted.
Our humble experience concludes that their dishes were not impressive. But if you still want to try them, a good piece of advice is to double check...
