Topaz is one of Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Chinese restaurants at the Happy Valley Racecourse. Besides racing days, it only serves lunch during the weekend on non-racing days. The main dining room on 7/F is very spacious with a great view of the racecourse. Dining tables are separated by partitions with much privacy. Servers are mostly part-times who are unfamiliar with anything, including taking orders, opening wine bottles, and putting away dirty dishes from the table; unprofessional is an understatement. Food quality is inconsistent, with fusion dishes served on racing days being much better than the lukewarm dimsum lunch available on non-racing days.
