Pricey, and sadly, not worth the hype. Yes, they serve big crab, but the meat wasn’t sweet or flavourful — just dense. For this price, I’d much rather have crab dishes elsewhere. The garlic stir-fry was overly greasy, and none of the dishes left a good impression. Everything felt oily and underseasoned.
The biggest issue was the billing. They got it wrong three times. They explained that the previous customer, supposedly the owner, had dined at the same table earlier, so our orders were mixed together. It was dismissed casually with a quick apology, but if you can’t read Chinese, you’d easily end up paying for things you didn’t order.
I had to point out mistakes three times — initially there were four wrong items, then two more, and finally a plate of peanuts that had been silently placed on the table when we sat down. If you’re not familiar with it, you might eat them without knowing they’ll charge for it, and it’s not cheap either.
Service was also below expectations. Staff were slow to respond, drinks took a long time, and food came late. Despite all this, they still added a service charge. Overall, the food was disappointing, the experience frustrating, and the price...
Read moreOur last night in HK so decided to have some crab as it was near our hotel. They have a long-running half-price promo for selected dishes including crab so we got a few dishes to try.
The Typhoon Shelter Crab was quite small, and although very spicy, was of not much taste. Half price, can't expect much. The serving receptacle took up half the table and was unnecessary.
The "Golden Sand Prawns" which were charged per piece was also served in a fancy but impractical way. All the fried crumbs which I had expected to be of salted egg yolk based on the name, tasted of nothing, as did the prawns - there was not even any natural sweetness of fresh prawns, so the whole dish was very bland and greasy.
Other than that we got the Sweet & Sour Pork with Peach for the kids and a Stir-Fried Beef with Kai Lan - both were ok, quite basic.
They had a fine print stating the 10% service charge was based on the original price of the promo dishes, not the discounted price so it came up to some ridiculous amount for the food we had.
Overall, we expected better quality seafood from a place that specialises in them. Half price, half the...
Read moreSCAM RESTAURANT, Don’t come here if you are a tourist. They charged a $225 HKD service fee on the bill that was not disclosed upfront. They claimed this is normal in HK, but I’ve been to many HK restaurants I have never seen this before. There was no service at all and it wasn’t a fine dining restaurant so there was no fair justification for the fee. Paid nearly $450 aud for a crab and shrimp that was just fried frozen shrimp, can get lobster...
