蟹籽燒賣 Prawn and Pork Dumplings (Siew Mai) = HKD18.00 蘆筍蝦餃 Asparagus Prawn Dumplings (Har Gow) = HKD18.00 蠔皇叉燒包 Barbecue Pork Buns (Char Siew Bao) = HKD17.00 白灼菜心 Poached Choi Sum = HKD16.00
Mandatory Hot Water = HKD5.00 Special Promo Discount = -HKD8.28 No Service Charge
This is a Small Dim Sum place that is Air-Conditioned with a Modern Look and Atas feel. The Music they have playing in the Background is some sort of Modern Industrial Synth Funkpop? Interesting Choice of Music for a Dim Sum Eatery.
This was the 1st Dim Sum Place I visited and its totally not how I expect a HK Dimsum place to feel. Also, for some reason, this place also has a very Strong Smell of Hainanese Chicken Rice even tho they don't sell it here. Wierd.
They have a Few Interesting Rules:
1st, Dine In requires a Minimum Order of HKD35.00
2nd, Chinese Tea is a must to order at HKD8.00. If you dont order, they will give u a Flask of Hot Water for HKD5.00 instead. This is of course their version of Service Charge.
When I asked for No Tea, the Young Serving Lady while Polite, gave a Slight Adorable Protest and said their Chinese Tea is really good.
Its not that I don't want to order, I just wanted to test what her reaction was. She gave me the impression that she has never in her life seen anyone who don't order their Chinese Tea hahaha.
蟹籽燒賣 Prawn and Pork Dumplings (Siew Mai) = HKD18.00
The Siew Mai looked nice but I noticed there were a Couple of Black Specks on it. I picked it up, crushed it in my fingers, did a quick taste and I can confirm it is Soot. I reckon this is probably bits of Soot that dropped from their Kitchen Exhaust Vents
This was an Unfortunate Piece that somehow landed on my Siew Mai. I'm afraid I'll have to deduct points for this. I did not make a scene or request to change my plate of Siew Mai.
After removing the Soot, I thought the Siew Mai was Meaty and Juicy. Not Overly Porky or Prawny. If it's not because of the Soot I discovered, I'd rate this as Above Average Quality.
Right now, unfortunately I have to rate this Siew Mai as "Hazardous for Health".
蘆筍蝦餃 Asparagus Prawn Dumplings (Har Gow) = HKD18.00
Thankfully No Soot on this one! The Har Gao was Excellent. Really Melt in Mouth Quality Translucent Skin and the Filling within is is not One Big Fat Piece but in Pieces. This gave it a Nicer Bitefeel and I also noticed some pieces of Chestnut within giving it a Slight Crunch. So Beautifully and Elegantly Made, this is probably the Best Har Gao I've eaten so far.
蠔皇叉燒包 Barbecue Pork Buns (Char Siew Bao) = HK17.00
The CSB dough is really Soft, Fluffy and Pillowy, and while there aren't alot of Filling within, I thought it tasted Very Nice. Hot, Sticky and Juicy Meat Pieces and Not Too Sweet. This is a Good Tasting Delicious Dim Sum Quality CSB.
白灼菜心 Poached Choi Sum = HK16.00
This has a Unique Veggie Bitterness to it. Stem was very Soft and Tender and Not Mushy. Adding some Oyster Sauce on it gave it a Nice Taste. I understand why people order this as it is nice as a Palette Cleanser and Flavour Fatigue Relief if you have eaten too much Meat-Based Dim Sum.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
Total Price of HKD74.00 for Everything I ordered was Very Reasonable and there was even a Special Promo, making the Total Actual Cost only HKD66.00 (S$11.50)
Even without the Promo, I feel HKD74.00 (S$13.00) is still a Very Reasonable Price. This may be the Most Affordable Dim Sum Place I've eaten in HK.
The Staffs were Chirpy and Friendly and the Dim Sums were overall made at a High Quality.
Unfortunately because of the Presence of Soot found on my Siew Mai, i'm afraid I cannot give this place my Highest Score. Luckily their Customer Service was not bad, else I would have dropped my Score even lower.
Other than the Unfortunate Soot issue, I actually quite like this place. If you decide to eat here, I hope you have better luck than me and not have any Soot land on your dishes.

I don’t know that there is a dim sum restaurant in Hankow Road🥰 This restaurant specializes in a variety of Chinese dim sum🥧 There are signature steamed rice, moist stew, exquisite dim sum, snacks, drinks, etc. 😃 The restaurant environment is very clean and managed by the company. In terms of decoration, there is also a lot of effort. Although the floor is not big, there are several card slots. The location is convenient and the speed of serving food is very fast. If you see a few customers, they all eat alone, and they are definitely office workers. Good place for lunch 🤭

Read moreMy girlfriend and I found this dimsum restaurant from Google Maps and hope to get good hongkong dimsum experiences around TST area as this place was rated at 4.0 which was higher than other places in this area.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, while we were not welcomed by the waitresses. After dining in this restaurant, we agreed not to come back and will not recommend this place to other people, especially for tourists who cannot speak Cantonese.
Here are the reasons why:
After we got the table, all the waitresses ignored us as we asked for English menu (no leaflet provided on our table). They all told us to wait for about 15 mins, while other tables who came after us already got the menu and were able to order before us.
Regarding the hygienic issue, we found a long black hair in one of our dumpling dish. (photo attached)
Two of our dishes were missing after finishing all the served dishes and waiting for another 15 mins, we called them to cancel. However, they grabbed the food from kitchen and serve us right away.
I thought they might have the service problem as most of the waitresses don't have the service-minded. So, I would not recommend the tourists to try this restaurant, better go to somewhere else. Or maybe bring a friend who can speak Cantonese so they can...
