Asok Thai Garden — Restaurant in Kowloon

Walked out of this restaurant because of the unfriendly staff and poor service.

Did not expect to be arranged to sit at the bar table before arrival, since they did not separate “bar tables” and “main dining tables” options on the Google reservation page. We were initially fine with the arrangement considering the restaurant was packed. After two customers at the dining table left, we requested to move because the bar table was really too high to eat comfortably. However, the staff told us that it’s impossible because the next batch of customers were about to come in and they made the reservation “one month in advance for the Christmas season and requested dining table”.

This sounded unpleasant as in guilt tripping us for not doing the same. We’re also here for festive celebrations, couldn’t you reply nicer by saying “we will try to arrange once there is another empty table”?

If requesting in advance is really the thing here, please make it clear on the reservation page that customers must write this special request! Or at least, ask if your customers are fine with bar table at the reception before taking them in!

They also did not let us know the night was cash only (due to technical issues) before arrival through SMS or call, or at least, before welcoming us in.

Lastly, I would like to address that I certainly had booked the 7pm timeslot via Google (with a gmail) and cancelled the openrice booking at 8:30pm by myself (with a yahoo email). Therefore, “showing up 1.5 hours earlier and there aren’t enough seats at the moment” shouldn’t be the reason for putting us to bar table.

The two male waiters always chatting , not fully attention to the customers . The waitress at the door is the one who always caught us waving our hands asking for service. There is also one waitress a bit odd. She never really looks at you when you talk to her, never nods or answer back, we never know if she got our orders until our food or drinks arrived. The food in general is very good. We like it a lot. And the drinks looks really pretty too. We got the window seats that time. Tatami style. Difficult to sit for adults but my friends kids were crazy happy about it that they got to jump up and down and walk around on the floor. Tom Yum Goong spaghetti with giant prawns ✨ Highly recommended.

The prawns are really huge! They are meaty and the shrimp has been fried, giving it a dense texture. The prawn heads are filled with shrimp paste! As for the spaghetti, each strand is coated with a generous amount of Tom Yum sauce! It's tangy and slightly sweet, very appetizing! The portion of spaghetti is generous, and sharing it between two people already makes you feel 50% full!

Yellow curry, you can choose beef, chicken, or pork. We tried the pork. The curry has a slightly sweet flavor, and when paired with the thin pancake, it's very satisfying, and the pancake's outer layer is very crispy!
