招牌雲吞麵 Signature Wanton Noodles (Soup) = HKD45.00 No Service Charge
This was a Very Random Shop that I just happened to come across while Late Night exploring Tsim Sha Tsui. Very Small Corner Shop that had quite a few Customers within. It totally looked like a Classic Old-School Eatery that we see so often in a typical Hong Kong Movie. I was quite surprised that this place is actually Air-Conditioned given how Old-School it looked.
The Owner was a Young 30-Something-ish Chap who had a very "Friendly Bro Feel" when I conversed with him in Cantonese.
The Wanton Noodles was served up quickly in 2 Mins and I was immediately impressed with how Fat and Juicy the Wantons Looked! Compared to the Pathetic Looking Mini Baby Wantons that we have in Singapore (and JB), the ones here in Hong Kong are some Serious Chonky Big Boys! They are so Big Sized, I'd compare them to the Size of Big Fishballs actually. Just look at the Photos to see what I mean!
The Wanton Skin was as Smooth as Silk and I have a feeling this is Homemade. Each of them had at least 1 Big Fat Prawn that was Amazingly Bouncy and Juicy! Meat Filling also wasn't Overly Porky and Super Tender and Juicy. OMG this is like probably the BEST Wanton i've ever eaten. Period.
The Soup itself has a very 清甜 Taste with a Slightly Alkaline Wanton Flour Taste which I thought may be abit too Alkaline than usual, but I was still ok with the Taste. The Noodles were VERY VERY QQ and Bouncy to the Bite and Portion given is Acceptable. It was Super Enjoyable to Slurp up these WTM Noodles and Munch on One of those Big Fat Chonky Wantons!
One Thing Noticeably Missing from Hong Kong Wanton Mee (at least from this Stall) is that There are No Char Siew added compared to the WTM we have in Singapore and Malaysia JB.
Seriously its the Big Fat Wantons that really steal the show here. And this place wasn't even Particularly Famous or Michelin Recommended or anything. Its just a Regular Eatery here in Hong Kong!
I don't even know whether to call these 雲吞 Wantons? or 水饺 Dumplings? Is this what Authentic Wantons are supposed to look like? Living in Singapore, and eating Malaysia/Singapore's Version of Baby Wantons, I feel like my Life has been a Complete Lie!
To be fair though, HKD45.00 (S$7.80) is Very Expensive for a Bowl of WTM, but personally I feel the Quality of the Wantons are actually Worth to Try because each of the them had 1 Big Fat Prawn within.
And with that Owner and his "Friendly Bro Feel" he gave me, I can totally recommend this place for anyone to try Authentic Hong Kong Wanton Mee in a Very Classic HK Movie Eatery sort of look. Highly Recommended!

Read more🥟 Wanton Noodles, is easily one of the most common dish found all over 🇭🇰 Hong Kong. Some of the more long established Wanton Noodles eateries such as Ho Hung Kee, Mak Man Kee, Kwan Kee and Lau Sum Kee have even been recognised by the Michelin Bib Gourmand… With that many choices, it can become quite a challenge to decide which Wanton Noodle to go to; and even worse when you’re more in the mood for a humble, more down to earth Wanton Noodle shop in the middle of the highly touristy, bling-bling Tsim Sha Tsui area! 🥢
💎 There’s however a little no frills gem tucked in between the main streets of T.S.T, often frequented by working class locals and some chefs.. “Shek Kee” is a tiny shop serving well wrapped prawn-pork Wantons that’s just the right size, served with perfectly cooked al dente egg noodles and soup.. Aside from the wantons, the grass carp fish balls are perhaps one of the best I’ve tasted in 🇭🇰 with its smooth bouncy texture with an absence of “bony” bites.. Chive pork dumplings were huge, but however was less to my liking as I felt that the skin used was too thick and more akin to Momos… Nonetheless, if you have a want for wantons when in T.S.T., then be sure to...
