Din Tai Fung: A Culinary Gem with Authentic Taiwanese Cuisine Din Tai Fung stands out as an internationally renowned Michelin one-star restaurant, delighting food enthusiasts with its authentic Taiwan-style dining experience. Among its myriad of delectable offerings, the Xiao Long Bao, a steamed pork dumpling, is an absolute must-try for visitors. This tantalizing dish embodies the perfect blend of flavor and texture, satisfying the discerning palate of even the most seasoned food connoisseurs. To qualify as an exceptional Xiao Long Bao, several criteria must be met, and Din Tai Fung effortlessly fulfills them all. The presentation is exquisite, captivating diners from the moment the dumplings are set before them. The delicate, thin skin of the dumplings remains intact, ensuring they won't burst when picked up. With each bite, the dumplings release a burst of hot, savory soup, creating a truly memorable culinary experience. The temperature of the dumplings, as well as the overall dining experience, is meticulously maintained, enhancing the enjoyment of every guest. Additionally, the dumplings are conveniently sized to be consumed in one mouthful, further adding to the ease and enjoyment of the dining experience. While the Xiao Long Bao takes center stage, the side dishes at Din Tai Fung are equally delightful. Another standout option is the steamed pork and vegetable dumplings, which offer a medley of flavors and textures that perfectly complement the main dishes. Taiwanese-style noodle soup is another specialty of Din Tai Fung that has garnered significant acclaim. Diners have the option to savor the flavorsome broth with or without the addition of braised beef, allowing them to tailor the dish to their preferences. However, not all dishes reach the same level of culinary excellence. The fried rice, while flavorful, falls short in terms of preparation. The use of short sticky Japanese rice lends a unique texture but could benefit from further refinement in the cooking process. Din Tai Fung's menu is designed to cater to both locals and tourists, providing ease of ordering and understanding for visitors from around the world. Each food item is accompanied by a photograph, along with Chinese characters, Japanese, Korean, English, and a number code, making it accessible to a diverse range of diners. Furthermore, the restaurant prides itself on its exceptional service, with staff members responding promptly to guests' needs. The food preparation time is impressively short, ensuring that patrons are not kept waiting for long. It's worth noting that while the prices at Din Tai Fung may lean towards the higher end, the exceptional quality of the food and dining experience justifies the cost. In conclusion, Din Tai Fung stands as a culinary gem, offering an unforgettable journey into the flavors of Taiwan. From the impeccable Xiao Long Bao to the tantalizing side dishes and comforting noodle soups, this renowned restaurant has mastered the art of Taiwanese cuisine. While some dishes may have room for improvement, the overall experience of dining at Din Tai Fung is a testament to its well-deserved reputation for excellence.

Din Tai Fung is our family’s go-to joint whenever we are in HK...even if they now have a branch in Manila, we still continue with our tradition of going at least once when in town. We love the Silvercord branch…we go there early when the mall opens, shop at the stores nearby, and then meet up at DTF for lunch. Since we are a big group, we opt for a private room. Their service is fast and good. They even have kiddie menus, colorful dishes and cups for the toddlers in our group. Some of our favorite dishes: The Tossed shredded beancurd & seaweed & bean sprout and Sliced cucumber with chili & garlic appetizers are a must order! Another favorite is the String bean w/ minced pork & mini dry shrimps and the pan-fried shrimp & pork dumpling, sautéed fresh water shrimps – YUM!!! And of course, last but not least is the TDF original Xiao Long Bao.

We have been to Din Tai Fung in United State and Taiwan, I must say that we got a big disappointment with Din Tai Fung in Hong Kong. I should have known that when there wasn't a lot of customers on a Sunday lunch. First of all, the xiaolong bao tasted different, the smell of pork was so strong. They are famous for thin skin but here was not so good. The flavor of the flour is so strong that you can taste it. Top skin was thick. Same goes for Siu Mai, the skin was so thick. At least the pork chop fried rice was ok. Did I mention that they will charge you 12hkd for each person for the tea? Takeout container is 2hkd, bag is 2hkd, utensils is 1hkd. I'm sorry but I will not go back to this place ever again in Hong Kong.

A friend who grew up in Hong Kong took me here and I’m so glad she did. The soup dumplings are to die for! In fact, everything we ate was delicious. Portions are not American sized which is probably good, but it was a little bit more money. It was worth it in the end. The service was great and the food was very quick. When the soup dumplings came we were given a card that gave notice that one of the dumplings had burst in transport to the table 😂 so they ended up giving us an extra and it came in it’s own steamer. Like a king in a bed. It was a good laugh. I like that they take their business seriously. Overall great experience. Not the best I’ve ever had but also not disappointed. Thanks Din Tai Fung!

Fantastic little spot to pop by if you're in Hong Kong and want to go for dumplings. We went for some chicken and pork dumplings. Both of which were delicious. We also went for some fried pork chop and noodle soup which was good but relatively plain. We got there around 12 on a Sunday and were seated straight away (we were expecting a wait!). Service was Swift and friendly and by the time we left at about 1 the place was heaving and people were waiting outside. If you're looking for this restaurant you need to go inside the shopping centre and up to the 3rd floor. The directions on Google maps are a little tricky!

Since my wife is from Taiwan she wanted to take me to take me to this famous restaurant. Lucky us we arrive early (7PM) and we don’t have to wait for a table. A hostess take us to our table, I was able to film inside (not all restaurant will accept that). Then we start to order. The people who work there are dedicated to customers, great service; you wish you can find this everywhere. The Dim Sum is excellent, this place is 1 Michelin Star but the price is reasonable. Actually cheaper than my country (Belgium). Couple days later we try the Tokyo Shinjuku Din Tai Fung, was not as great as this one in Hong-Kong.
