i went there for dinner buffet earlier this week. first of all, it's almost the buffet in HK that costs highest. so it's fair i had the same level of expectation too, on both the food, service atmosphere and everything. fortunately if come on mon-thu, there's no time limit for eating, means to get in at 6 sharp till 10pm it ends, while on weekends, there's a 2-hour turnaround. i can't imagine limiting 2 hour to have buffet that's extremely rush like a mess.
i came here at 6-ish and was already half full. while people rushed to the starters area, all desserts and hot food looked complete and in shape. for seafood, they've crab, crab legs, prawn and shells. the crab legs were my best pick here. then went to the sashimi, 5 kinds and lots of sushi there too. it's given by the chef but they're generous. i think the starters were pretty good.
i'm not too into hot food in buffet, didn't touch the curry and roast chicken things like that. i had lobster but it was disappointing, tasteless at all. then the roast beef, em, so-so. the duck liver was terrible too both on texture and its taste. but i think most of the chinese style were good, the abalone, sea cucumbers those kind. so next time if i'm dining again in Regent, for sure i'll think of their chinese restaurant first!
then dessert, ya, quite some choices.
the view was good, facing victoria harbour. but staff didn't clear the table too quickly, some empty plates were left with us more than 20 mins. the tables and chairs were placed very closely too, made it very difficult to get out/in. then, food was place at the counter as two layers (one at the top and at the bottom) so it's very unfriendly for people to grab food. that's why always a crowd out there and spent time waiting. i think this is the set up that the hotel should improve.
nonetheless, the toilet was terrible. towards the end time, people lined up and the flush wasn't strong enough leaving behind tissue paper blocks the loo. how could this happen with a 5-stars hotel?
so overall i think it's good for a try, but i doubt if i'm coming back again.
hope you find the photos i took beautiful & useful ;) follow me on ig:...
Read moreTaste: 7.5 / 10 Service: 8 / 10 Ambiance: 7 / 10 I was pleasantly surprised by the buffet selection at Harbourside Regent Hotel. It truly has everything a food enthusiast could desire. The sashimi station is a standout, featuring delicacies like uni, toro, and impressively large scallops. Moving on, the Chinese soup section, steam-fresh lobster, and duck liver with crab udon round out an impressive array of options. For a hotel buffet, the variety is exceptional, especially when paired with the restaurant's high ceilings and beautiful hong kong harbour views.
My absolute favourite was the ice cream. I usually try to exercise restraint when it comes to sweets, but their rum raisin and Hong Kong milk tea flavoured ice cream were so exquisite that I found myself returning for seconds (and maybe thirds) lolls
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our meal. When the lamb chops ran out, instead of leaving us disappointed, they offered to bring them directly to our table once ready. This level of consideration was much appreciated. Moreover, the staff were constantly on their toes, refilling tea and drinks promptly and clearing dirty plates efficiently.
The ambiance of the restaurant is generally pleasant, I really like the high ceilings and picturesque views. However, I feel compelled to point out a potential safety hazard. The first few steps of the staircase leading down to the buffet area are poorly lit. This could easily lead to accidents, especially during evening hours when visibility is further reduced. Management should address this issue to ensure guest safety.
Value for Money: 7.5 / 10. With the AE discount of 15% off, the buffet came to around HKD850 per person. Considering the quality of food, the range of options, and the excellent service, I'd say it's a fair price. It's not the cheapest buffet in town, but the overall experience...

Food variety was way less than many other hotels’ lunch buffet
Sashimi was very average- tuna was like those chained sushi place. Salmon was ok. Sweet ebi was good.
There were choices of vietnam style salad to choose from. Leaves were fresh. There were some typical cold cuts like parma ham and smoked salmon. Chilled seafood- snow crab legs- up to standard/ brown crab was totally lack of any freshness.
Hot dishes were not impressive at all: roasted sirloin i think it was overcooked/ Peking duck roll was just ok/ duck leg confit was too dry/ vietnam beef rice paper roll was just ok
There were some dim sum and chinese dishes like steamed fish too but they were not impressive at sll to me.
There were all you can drink of coconut water and sugarcane juice which was quite refreshing.
Dessert area was way better especially ice cream. Special flavor like hk style milk tea was surprisingly yum. There were just 5 whole cakes. It was cut in a bit big portion. Creme brulee was up to standard. Egg tart and freshly made crepe is a must try. Love the macaron too.
As a 5 star hotel, most of the staff are attentive. However, there are 1 or 2 staff that were not able to provide 5 star service as well.
There were not many people which made it a nice place to chill in front of the Victoria harbor.
