Kido 木戶 — Restaurant in Kowloon

Food was okay, but definitely not worth the price $48 for a single chicken wing. Service was okay at start however towards the end of the night things turned. During the whole meal felt like they were rushing us out the door. Ruin birthday celebration for friend. As the server came up with the bill mid-meal before dessert was ordered. Then asked in front of everyone “is it the one with the candle”. Anyways, as we continued our meal and whilst we all had a chicken wing each in our mouth, the server bought the dessert (ice cream with candle lit) over when everyone was still eating. Birthday girl had to asked if they can bring it over after finishing the meal (as it’s ice cream it’ll melt placed aside on the table). Absolutely ruining the whole evening and atmosphere. After finishing the food we then informed staff that they can clear away the plates and bring the dessert. Bought that over and somehow they manage to set the “happy birthday” signage on fire.

Perhaps a good place for casual meal, but not for celebrations or special occasions. None of us ordered drinks, food only avg. per person $500-600. Price range isn’t marked as a “casual” meal so we expected something better than cha tan...

This is the reason why people respect Japanese professional chef. Firstly, very well-organized atmosphere and we can feel we are in old-style Japanese house.

Staffs in restaurants are really great that you may not feel you are in Hong Kong.

Food is also super nice. I hope to enoy skewers only but there are other choices I can take. that part was worse than I expected cuz I wanted to try various type of skewers. However, plating, food quality, taste. All of them are fantastic. You should not miss it.

Only one thing which can be burden for visitor is price. If you like sake, beer as well, budget should be higher than 500 per person.

But in overall, Highly recommend!!...

I tried the set lunch here, the price is reasonable, just around $118-$388.

The grilled cod is really good! It is so soft and oily, with nice sweet miso flavor, and it is boneless! The steamed egg is very smooth, salad is fresh and the rice is moist.

The grilled chicken skewers set is ok, it is not too dry but it would be better with sauce or salt given.

The grilled miso pork belly is really tasty, it is so juicy and tender.

The pork with Fuji apple is nice too, the pork got piggy fatty flavor which goes well with Fuji apples.
