I used to be a fan of this place and still is I think. The food is so amazingly good here however ur mileage of dining experience here may vary.
This Vietnam cuisine restaurant is popular in HK. They have a few different branches in other regions. Tonight we have a group if 6, some fds from UK. We tried to book a table but it was full already so we walked in at about 10 mins before 7pm and luckily we got out seats in about 15 mins. Awsome. However the lady at the reception told us our dining time is 75 mins. Please be aware for those who want to sit a bit longer. Fair enough, it is good to be told beforehand. Then we asked what if we really couldn’t finish our meal in 75 mins? She said then we will help pack the food for u. Very funny haha..
The seats here are a bit tight. The table we have is more comfortable with 4 ppl from my point of view but on a Sat evening in HK esp in TST, we really can’t complain too much.
The food. We each ordered a main dish, mostly Pho, and a few snacks for share. The snacks we have spring rolls ($70), soft shell craft wrap, and deep fried toufu. All are good. I also recommend to order their chicken wings. It is very good too. I ordered a pho with combination of beef slice and brisket ($88). This is my favorite dish here. However, I think they had missed my order, coz I waited it for so long that all my other fds had finished their dishes but mine still hasn’t come. I asked the waiters there couple of times, 3 times with different person, and when it came to the forth one, she took my request seriously and re-check the order with us. Appreciated that. Anyways I managed to finish my pho in time and still had some time left to chitchat with my fds before the bill arrived on our table.
All in all food are great despite of a little bit pricy. A bit too crowded. Service...
Read moreThe first thing you need to ask yourself is whether you can comfortably finish lunch in 75 minutes. This includes the time to read the menu, make your choice and wait as many as 27 minutes for the food to actually come to your table. Then comes the second question, are you willing to share table? Any “no” means it is only right for you to look for another eatery - there are plenty around. These two combine tells unmistakably that this place is literally a FAST food store. As an unspoken rule here in Hong Kong, 10% service charge is not levied in fast food store but somehow they see fit to do so here, probably in an attempt to pretend it is one hell of a decent restaurant. No, I don’t believe it remotely is. The food here is not bad but equally not very good. Service is quite decent despite some reviewers complained about it. The roast suckling pig is pretty good. Could be way better if they got the sound mind to make good dipping sauce that matches the dish. As could be imagined, roast pig is oily and fatty. Somehow the sauce is some sort of tasteless oil. It adds nothing but extra grease. No, it doesn’t taste right. Vietnamese coffee is...
Read moreIt was very busy when we visited here in the evening. We politely asked if we could wait for a seat with a view but were abruptly told that it was not possible... fair enough! A waitress showed us to a table but then never bothered to take our order (even with our menu’s sat closed on the table), preferring to take orders from those people that walked in some time after us. Eventually after some searching eye contact another, friendlier waitress served us! I tried to order tofu but it was sold out... instead I ordered fish cake and was pleasantly surprised, it was very tasty and the whole dish very enjoyable. As a whole the food didn’t disappoint, but because of the poor service we probably will go...
