My husband and I were in the mood for some Japanese food, so we decided to try out this tempura spot for a celebratory lunch. Unfortunately, the whole experience left a lot to be desired.

We both ordered the tempura set menu, expecting a nice, high-quality spread. But the tempura itself was fairly unremarkable - nothing too surprising or memorable about it. Not terrible, but also not exceptional.

The real letdown, though, was the service. For the prices they're charging, I expect a much higher level of attentiveness and care from the staff. Our waiter just haphazardly plopped our dishes down, not bothering to ask which plate went where or provide any guidance on the sauces we should be using for the tempura.

And the chef who was preparing the tempura didn't even take the time to introduce the different items or let us know the best dipping sauces. We were left to kind of just figure it out ourselves, which is not ideal when you're paying a premium for a supposedly premium dining experience.

Overall, I left feeling pretty underwhelmed. The food was decent but forgettable, and the service was subpar given the pricing. I really don't see any reason to come back here, especially when there are so many other great Japanese restaurants in the area that could provide a much better value. 2 our of 5 stars, I am still being...

First time to this renowned restaurant as my wife was praising about how pleasant surprise of experience she had with the Four Season’s Inagiku. However, the experience in this branch left us wondering whether the 2 branches are even related. The quality of food and service has lots of room for improvement. We ordered 2 teppanyaki beef, tempura, cold soba and a deluxe sushi set. Aside from given an ultra small portion, the Teppanyaki beef is the only dish that lived up to the expectation. Their tempura from the signature tempura bar was not served hot or could be due to the breezy air conditioning environment. The cold soba was greatly presented but taste was nowhere near the one served at Nakamura few block down the road. The deluxe sushi set was very disappointing as the sashimi was only somewhat fresh but not the freshest. The sushi rice is below average. The plating presentation needs improvement. We were seated close to the sushi bar and the sushi chefs were not too professional with the sushi etiquette and lacked the passion. In term of value, this is definitely not the one worth trying, but we did noticed almost all of the customers are returning customers who were given preferential treatments “out loud” like complimentary starters and desserts. Overall the experience we had was lousy, if...

Shikigiku's management does not have what it takes to be a Japanese restaurant inside a hotel. We have been regulars of this restaurant for at least 10 years. Since it has changed its name from Inagiku to Shikigiku the standards have slided considerably. The flooring has chips in many places, the servers are dispassionate, the utensils (forks for fruits) are not uniform and the sushi looks dull and unappetizing. The unagi tamago roll was cut so thinly that it crumbled and fell off from the chopsticks. There are many Japanese restaurants with local chefs in HK these days that serve better and more interesting food than this long...

Located inside the Royal Garden Hotel, this Japanese restaurant serves up a few different types of Japanese cuisine, from Sashimi to Tempura. We came in to enjoy the tempura set and we were not disappointed. Albeit the pricing at the time was 1780.00 HKD per person, it's still worth it if you're seated at the tempura bar. The variety and the number of pieces was plentiful and you could taste the freshness of each ingredient, despite most of them being fried. The stars of the show were the lobster, abalone, sea urchin and the mini peppers. Definitely a splurge, but will be worth it if it's a special occasion.
