Whilst I am not as fond of buffets as I used to be as a child, I do still love the idea of buffets as they bring back fond memories of childhood when we would go to buffets as a family on celebratory occasions.

We decided to try The Astor this time based on the many good reviews we have seen online and opted for their lunch buffet. It was a very enjoyable experience I would say, and they offer a great variety of food items, all of decent quality and more than enough cater to the food preference of a wide audience. I have listed in details on thoughts on the items I have tried below👇🏻

Their tempura were so nice and fresh out of the fryer! Love the fish tempura most and though I would love a second piece, there was none left throughout the second hour of our 2.5 hr buffet lunch.

Their oysters 🦪 were also of very decent quality👍🏻 and freshly washed before they were served atop a bowl of ice 🧊 , though there was almost always a queue and each customer was given only 2 oysters each round🙈

A few other favourites were their char siu (extremely tender!) and king crab 🦀 congee! Didn’t exactly have a prominent crab flavour, yet it was definitely a delicious bowl of congee😍 with a perfect texture. We added the cold cooked shrimps 🦐 from the cold seafood section into the congee and it was a perfect combo!

Their coconut chicken soup with snow fungus 椰子雪耳雞湯 was nice too, and we added a few slices of salmon sashimi to the soup😂 And yes, semi-cooked salmon sashimi is delicious 😍 I also really enjoyed their sushi roll which was filled with salmon, tuna, cucumber and pickled yellow radish! Their roasted ribeye 🥩 was also a beautiful pink colour and quite tender at the centre as well!

On to their dessert 🍰 ~

My favourite was definitely their freshly made waffles 🧇 though, which was amazing drizzled with maple syrup, peanut butter and chocolate syrup and topped with chocolate shavings, Oreo bits and movenpick ice cream🍨! I found their Swiss chocolate flavour and maple & walnut flavours a little too sweet, whereas their strawberry 🍓 flavour and mango & passion fruit flavour were amazing!

As for cakes, I loved their chocolate brownie cube, so decadent and rich😍 The matcha cake roll with red bean cream filling and walnut/brown sugar banana loaf were good too.

Their tables and food stations were also nicely spread out so despite there being a good number of customers, it didn’t feel too crowded👍🏻

Just had an amazing dining experience at The Astor tonight and I couldn't be more grateful! The atmosphere was perfect, with a spacious area and beautifully articulated decoration that created a pleasant and inviting ambiance.

There was a wide variety of food options. The cold seafood, including my all-time favorite crab legs, shrimps, and oysters, were exceptionally fresh and clean. Special mentions to the delicious Mango Pomelo Sago drink and the mouth-watering BBQ food and Chinese cuisine that left me craving for more. The special dishes served at different time points, such as the lobsters, raw beef, Peking roast duck, and the delightful Baked Alaska dessert prepared right in front of us, were absolute showstoppers (but better sprint there in a flash).

I also appreciate the inclusion of a special vegetarian area, the wide variety of desserts, especially the many flavors of Mövenpick ice cream, were a treat for the taste buds. The only drawback would be the relatively small serving size for each ice cream portion and sometimes not being made into proper scoop.

I gave a feedback about the dull utensils and was addressed immediately by the Senior...

𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐑𝐘 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐁𝐔𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐓! The Astor located at Eaton Hong Kong might be one of the best buffets I’ve been to recently!🍴🥂 Keep reading to find out more: ⬇️

✨ We tried out their 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐭 and apart from their usual extensive buffet spread, guests are able to enjoy a whole lobster tail and a portion of Botan shrimp sashimi! Be sure to check out their online store for exclusive booking offers!

📝 Overall review: — They have a total of 7 live stations here which is an insane selection to have at any buffet! I guarantee you’ll be spoilt for choice here and be able to get your money’s worth from their abundant choices!

— Some of the highlights include their 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 and 𝗽𝗲𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻-𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗬𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗲𝗲𝗻, both of which come in limited quantities! You get to enjoy the freshest yellowtail on the spot, and the most delicious Michelin starred quality Peking duck which is a MUST TRY!

— The food quality here is pretty high and there’s definitely going to be something for everyone! Expect bold flavours and fresh ingredients.

Came here for their lunch buffet, they had varies of food option, however taste was just mediocre. 6 different cold seafood was served when I came here for lunch including oysters and crayfish. But they tasted bland nor were they particularly fresh. They did however provided plenty of sauce options which was much needed. For roast meat they had beef, lamb and pork. However the cuts were pretty tough, also note they slice it on the same board. So it might be a problem for those which might not eat lamb or pork. Pros: the dessert was the highlight of the buffet and pretty much all the ones I had didn’t disappoint!! They weren’t too sweet yet was rich in flavor. Also I actually liked how the food stations were spread around the whole venue, as this prevented chaos when grabbing food. Honestly as a hotel restaurant I would have expected better quality in their hot dishes. For this price there are other places where you could get more decent food that actually taste good.
