Honest review of this place coming up.... Location is Amazing!! Right ontop of Temple street night market, and a walk in either direction will take you to somewhere of interest. Nearest metro is Jordan about 5 min walk at a steady pace. Room quality....we paid for a "Superior" room as it was listed to be larger. We were placed on the 4th floor room 403 this turned out to be the SMALLEST on that floor so much so we enquired at reception if we had been placed in the wrong room as its tiny (our friends stayed in 405 which was a lot bigger..and better amenities) Cleanliness....was "OK" we did have some strange red bugs (Poss bed bugs) on the first night...we spoke to reception again when we went out for the day and on return we did not have any more issues (or atleast the bugs never popped up to say hello anymore) The staff were friendly, I would say if you get this hotel for the right price then go for it. A standard room would be TINY as even our friends real "superior" room was small (enough space for 2 normal suitcases and 2 people) Would I stay again...Yes, but mainly for...
Read morePaid for a Superior room and could not sleep for the first two nights because the air ventilation was blowing mold in my face. To their credit, they changed the room for me. Service was generally good. Decent enough neighborhood. Good tea shop right nearby. Would have given 4 stars, but they really hassled me about one hour late check-out... Which is ridiculous, given the fact that I paid for two nights in a room that was a breathing hazard (I'm only mildly exaggerating... It was really impossible to sleep there). After something like that, the least the check-out desk can do is extend a courtesy to their guest and allow them to check out an hour late if needed. That's just basic hospitality services. It might have gotten them another star. Also, fyi, the cleaning staff smokes in fire escape, so the elevator landing on the upper floors smells like a casino. If you're sensitive, consider...
Read moreLate-night check-in was smooth, despite language difficulties, as I had booked online. Daytime staff person was pleasant and helpful.
However, the room was definitely not worth $800 HKD/night ($100 USD per night), when compared to an Airbnb that friends rented for slightly more that was right next to Wan Chai. This was my first trip to Hong Kong, so these are the only two properties I can compare.
Mildew and odd stains on some walls, side of sink, foam padding above toilet, on the shower curtain, and near peeling wallpaper. A previous guest carved the word 'RANK' into the foam padding; not a friendly welcome after arriving from a long flight. Bed hard as a stone. No safe in the room.
Bedding and the toilet itself were clean and there was reliable hot water. However, even if I had a strong need to stay in this area I would...
