rarely ever write reviews, but this place truly deserves one for all the wrong reasons. From the moment we walked in, there was absolutely no greeting or acknowledgment from any of the staff. We literally had to find our own table because no one bothered to assist or even look in our direction. That already set the tone for what was to come.
When we ordered, we made it very clear that we wanted non-spicy food. Despite this, our dishes arrived extremely spicy—so hot that they were practically inedible. When we politely pointed this out, the waiter didn’t even apologize or offer to fix it. Instead, they just shrugged it off as if it wasn’t their problem. The complete lack of care or effort to make things right was unbelievable.
The food itself wasn’t impressive either — aside from being far too spicy, it tasted unbalanced and poorly made, like no one in the kitchen actually cared about flavor or presentation. For the prices they charge, I expected at least some level of quality and service, but both were absolutely terrible.
Overall, I walked out feeling like I’d completely wasted my money. Between the rude service, careless attitude, and awful food, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Definitely not recommended — save yourself the disappointment and go somewhere that actually values...
Read moreThe half buffet is disappointing the best! Price for each person is $568 without 10 percent service charge. With that price, you would expect at least a decent entree, however that would be a big disappointment. We have ordered a flank steak and crab meat pasta as entree, both requires extra money (i remember it would be $128 for the steak) but the quality and the cooking were below average at best. I asked for medium rare for the steak and it came back cooking unevenly, it was raw/blue in the middle and well done on the outside. The black pepper sauce on the side for the steak, tastes like something commonly seem in the fast food, and of course the steak was not seasoned. The crab meat pasta is much worst. First of all, they overcooked the pasta, the pasta was very soft but totally bland and the protion of the crab meat is really really small. As for the buffet, the highlight should be the different kind of cooked seafood, they were serve cold, but the quality are definitely of the seafood is definitely not good, all of them were quite over cooked and bland too, except for the crab legs The crab legs are boiled in salt water and extremely salty. The only decent food is the salad but it is just average. We have spent around $1500 to $1600...
Read moreWe're extremely disappointed by our recent dining experience at Velo.
On paper, everything looked great at first. The atmosphere was refined, and the menu seemed delicious.
When I arrived, there was no one at the entrance to welcome the guests, despite the restaurant being almost empty and seeing some staff doing virtually nothing. I found my own way to my friend's table. No big deal. But then, the rest of the night was just a series of mistakes, improper conduct, and being ignored. A staff member removed the appetizer plate without asking us literally 30 seconds after it was on the table and still full of sauce and edible decorations we wanted to try. I had to ask for bread three times before finally getting it. After the first glass of water, no one refilled it until the very end when I asked them to do so. All that while the restaurant was completely empty (three tables to serve vs. five table service staff)...
Both our pastas were really not extraordinary, and mine was completely tasteless (penne with sausage).
I really don't get it, and I feel less and less sorry for all these restaurants closing down in Hong Kong because people don't want to pay an inflated price anymore for a terrible...
