Gelatina Mok Yi Kei (莫義記) is a famous food stop that has been in operation for over 80 years at the south end of Rua do Cunha in Taipa Village. Opening hours are approx. 10am to 9pm daily.
This is a Michelin recognised street food venue which specialises in fruit based snacks and dessert foods, including Durian flavoured ice-cream for with Mok Yi Kei achieves its present fame.
Here you can try cups of D24 (MOP30 per cup) or rarer Mustang (MOP68 per cup) durian ice-cream. This is good stuff if you like durian and durian flavoured foods. What is served is slightly crystallised and has a texture more like sorbet than traditional ice-cream. The flavour is strong and tastes pretty good, making this a fun dessert food to try if you like durian and are hitting up the food and dining spots around Taipa.
I've also tried the coconut ice-cream as well. This was creamy in texture, quite sweet with a strong coconut milk flavour. They have a number of other fruit flavours as well.
Note: Mok Yi Kei location is easy to find. Just look for the Red sign at the corner shop on Rua Do Cunha. The owner, Mrs Mok, is usually seen serving and heard promoting her products to the constant throng of tourists walking up and down...

Also ordered the serradura icecream on the 2nd visit, it's NOT the serradura...

It is not authentic durian ice cream. Expected so much more. Gives a mass produced feel as all the ice creams are already pre-packaged and not freshly scooped. ADVISE: you’ll have a far greater experience with the Turkish Ice cream...
