Feira do Carmo is the site of the former Old Taipa Market just south of the popular Rua do Cunha (food street) in Taipa Village. Historically, this was an open food market from the 1880s to the 1970s when it fell into disuse. It was revitalised in the 1980's and is now an open public space where you can find bench seating, shade and a place to take a rest after exploring around the village. It is also a good spot to enjoy eating street food purchased at nearby shops.
