Visited Bogotá for 4 days with my wife to celebrate her birthday. Stayed at an Airbnb in La Candelaria. We didn't make any plans, our first time in Bogotá. When we arrived we were hungry so we just walked to try to find something to eat and saw this place. We were seated immediately in the upstairs area. Staff is all incredibly friendly. Food is absolutely delicious and for people who live in South Florida, such an incredible value, especially considering its location in a tourist area. What we paid for an appetizer, 2 beers, 2 natural fruit juices, and 2 entrees that filled us up cost half of what it would at a comparable restaurant in a non-tourist area around where we live. And yes, I know that's just how Colombia is in general (I had been to Medellin before), but unfortunately we tried another restaurant near our Airbnb in La Candelaria during our stay and the food was terrible and the prices were comparable to South Florida prices, which was a shame because the staff at that establishment were also friendly and we wanted to like it, but I digress.
Back to Banquete Tradicional. Because that's what my wife and I decided to do our 3rd night in town because we loved it so much. There are plenty of restaurants in the area that we could've tried, but we chose to opt for what we already found and liked. 2nd time the restaurant was much fuller but we were still seated immediately in the upstairs area. We had the same waitress, who greeted us with a smile, happy to see us again. Once again, the food was delicious and great value.
My wife and I love their ají de mani (peanut hot sauce). It wasn't as spicy as what we're used to with our Haitian cuisine but the flavor is incredible. My wife hardly let me get any.
I absolutely love the ambience in that building. Just feels so old. I can only imagine tue conversations that had been held within those walls over the years. We don't have any immediate plans to return to Bogotá right now, but one thing I know for sure - if I'm ever in Bogotá again, I'm going out of my way to...
Read moreWe read the reviews and thought how great the food will be. The restaurant was fine. But we ordered the rib eye steak. We asked for medium-rare. Initially, they brought it super rare, basically raw. So we asked them to put it on the pan for 30s-1min... they kept it well longer, and the steak so completely ruined. Completely well done. I was unable to even chew it and had to leave it. We even showed the staff pictures of how a medium steak should look like, but it was of no use. I don't know if it was and accident, but even after showing pictures of steaks on the internet the staff insisted that it was medium (they were saying the same about the super raw...

Restaurante Banquete Tradicional Colombiano created the biggest, badest and best Bandeja Paisa I've had yet in Colombia in over 2 months of being here.
I left more than satisfied and the price was fantastic for the value, quality and service I received.
