Café Matuca — Restaurant in Bogota, Capital District

We booked a coffee class with Cafe Matuca and unfortunately it didn’t happen. We showed up at 950 am as instructed for a class scheduled to start at 10am. When we arrived the shop was still closed. We were able to duck under the metal door and went upstairs and found a worker who seemed very surprised that there was a class booked. He sat us down and brought us three coffees which was appreciated and made a call and came back to tell us the instructor would be there shortly. At about 1040 he came back and told us that the class needed to be rebooked to 3pm because the instructor was ‘two hours away and there’s bad traffic’. No good explanation was given for why the instructor didn’t show up for a planned and paid for 10am class. Our impression was that no one knew the class was actually booked. We declined the 3pm class and requested a full refund which we are still waiting for. It was all very unfortunate because we essentially lost a half day on our short vacation. Cafe Matuca was very unprofessional both in not providing the class that was paid for and for how they handled the situation. There are lots of options for coffee classes in Bogota (we did one the next day) and we would strongly recommend that customers consider options other than...

The staff was very professional and gave us a lot of insight on the coffee.

I randomly stopped by early in the morning while I was looking for a espresso, and I am glad I did because this coffee shop became my favorite spot in La Candelaria!!
