Restaurante Aracataca - Museo del Oro — Restaurant in Bogota, Capital District

We had a full morning right before Christmas in Museo del Oro. The museum is unbelievably stunning. It was a lot of information to process. After the visit we called Prudencia, because people told us about that place. Unfortunately the owner was very rude by phone. We were hungry so we just decided to "have a bite" at the museum's restaurant while we made a reservation at another restaurant...big surprise! We stayed! We were very welcomed by Carolina, the main host, with a perfect English! She pointed out great recommendations not just for the dishes and drinks of the restaurant but also, she gave us many other recommendations for the whole food scenery in Bogotá! Great place for breakfast, at a surprisingly fair price for the location and style. Service is good though a little slow when the place is near mid-full, but nothing to create a real complaint.

I had the Huevos Rancheros and the Pancakes with Fruit and Honey, mostly because I thought dishes to be smaller; nice to see one dish is a very decent personal meal. Huevos Rancheros were very good, though I was expecting something a little spicier, my regular unfulfilled expectation in Colombia. Pancakes had a lot of strawberries, and both texture and flavor were great.

Aracataca is definitely the tourist trap par excellence: A promise of local food in a fancy restaurant in one of the "must go" museums of Bogotá. Yet you will find that the menu displays cheaper (although expensive) prices than the ones they actually charge you, which is against Colombia's consumer's statute as well as common sense and business decency, and also the sizes of the dishes are not up to the expectations and neither is presentation on the actual dish which leaves a lot to be desired.
