IL Tinello — Restaurant in Bogota, Capital District

We had eaten there before and that’s why we decided to come back. The pasta dishes remain the restaurant’s strongest point, but our last visit (yesterday) was disappointing in several ways. The appetizers (eggplant -Parmigiana Melanzane- and fried calamari) were fine but overpriced, and the drinks—especially the sangria—were quite average. The weakest part was the main courses: both the lamb rack and the veal rack tasted almost the same, with bland meat, and the chef’s ravioli came in a small portion with a very ordinary flavor for a place of this level. In addition, prices do not include taxes, a detail written in fine print that can easily go unnoticed and makes the final bill higher than expected.

It is worth noting that the pasta dishes, as in our previous visits, remain very good and are clearly the highlight of the menu. I was passing time during a tropical rainstorm waiting for it to pass…but it kept pouring all the way until my Uber arrived. The pickup spot was a block away. The doorman rescued me by grabbing his big umbrella and escorting me all the way to the car. It’s compassion like this that makes all the difference. The food and drinks were sublime as well. Il tinello is traditional italian restaurant that has been in the market. Offering a comfy ambience this restaurant its a good option for lunch or dinner. Prices ok.

Starters: Antipasti : Grilled vegetables with prociutto, mozzarella and virgin oil. Combined make a fine entrance.

Main dishes: Chicken parmigiana with pasta alfreddo, both where great. Will probably come back for this. Black Risotto Salmon, ok not great.
