I had kind of a split experience here. I went with my girlfriend and honestly we felt a bit taken advantage of. The server told us about about an experience that was available in which the restaurant would choose five plates to serve and she gave us a maximum price for that. I left the table for a moment and my girlfriend ordered the experience for me and a couple specific dishes for her. It seemed when I returned to the table that I needed to reiterate that I was ordering the experience, so maybe this is where a point of miscommunication was introduced, and they honestly thought we were ordering two. However, this was really not clear to us and it seems there was at the very least, poor communication and poor listening skills regarding the fact that we only intended to order the experience for one of us. As we were quite surprised by the size of the bill at the end of the experience, when we realized that we had been charged for two. I shared some of my dishes with my girlfriend, but I didn't realize we were being charged doubly. I have to say that even if this was an honest miscommunication, if the size of the dishes had been halved, it would have been a fairly small amount of food altogether, especially given the quite high prices. Some of the dishes that were chosen were also a bit too weird for me, but that's my fault as I wanted to try some new things and I'm a bit restricted in what I consider normal for my diet compared to a fine dining restaurant like this. The server did kindly offer that we could omit the service fee as a way to partially make up for having been overcharged and she was quite gracious about that. On the positive side, the server was extremely friendly apart from the miscommunication, the environment was beautiful, the presentation of the food was incredible, and the entraña and pistachio dessert were delicious. So, despite everything and feeling that I substantially overpaid for the experience, I would consider giving it another chance, but I would do as I normally do when I returned and I would just carefully select what I specifically...
Read moreVisiting Bogota from Canada and found this spot close to our hotel…. I can’t say enough good things about this experience and how thankful I am I stayed where I did and happened to dine at Izumi! Juan was our sever and he was so attentive and courteous and added so much to the overall experience. Juan was very helpful (our first language is English and we speak minimal Spanish so Juan’s effort and ability was especially appreciated). The food was 10/10 and we wil be stopping back in for a meal before we fly out in a...
Read moreWe landed in Bogota yesterday afternoon and had dinner at Izumi at 8pm. Amazingly tasty food and beautifully presented. Restaurant has been open since November and has a great atmosphere and lovely team working there. We shared the Edamame beans (charred on a japanese grill) which were amazing then a mixture of Wonton, Tuna Sashimi, Spring Rolls and Chicken Teriyaki sticks - which were fabulous. There are plenty of other dishes so - as its our last night - we're going back to do the rest...
