2023 - the fried rice is incredible. I’ve ordered two fried rice’s from them this week and both have totally blown me away. I am very picky about Asian food, I am Asian. And I don’t say this often especially in Bogotá. This meal thoroughly impressed me. Also, don’t hesitate to get the daily sashimi special, the tuna and the salmon are both excellent, chunky, and fresh. The ginger and Wasabi are nothing to write home about but when I order sashimi, I’m there for the fish. 2022 - I don’t even want to include this in my star rating for this place, because it’s clearly a ubiquitous practice in Bogota, but why can I never get my drink before my food here. My delicious miso soup came a solid 5 minutes before my Club Colombia. Sure, if it was a cocktail, fine, you deserve more time. But all you gotta do is open the cap and bring it to the table! Drinks make people happy. Apparently, Bogota disagrees.
I ordered the sashimi pescado del dia, a Róbalo, and it was fabulous. Fatty and smooshy and strange, exactly what I want in a sashimi! I also ordered the Ebi and it was underwhelming. I don’t know what I was expecting, raw shrimp? It was cooked. Maybe it was true to Japanese form, can’t say I remember ordering it in Japan. Big shoutout to the floor manager, John, who not only offered to bring me soy sauce, the apparently default omission of which caught me off guard, but who also corrected our waiter who told me that the bread and crackers, cough nigiri, that my friend ordered was sashimi.
Confused! Anyway, the ambience here is lovely. Loud and chatty with a healthy smattering of pans and woks slapping around on the grittle. I’d come back for the miso and stay...
Read moreThe rating of a 3 is only because you have an Angel working for you named Alexandra who would receive a rating of 10 if 5 wasn’t the maximum. The taste of the food was just okay but I’ve eaten sushi all around the world and never not even once have I been served sushi so ridiculously small with such poorly cooked sticky rice and at such a premium price! Uhh how about visiting Japan and learning how it should be done. Or how about instead of trying to fatten your pockets off of ridiculous margin, instead try to introduce your local and returning clientele to more appreciation and operate as the restaurant you should be. Or if you do continue to significantly profit off of unknowing tourists and all the beautiful Colombianos then send your chefs to Japan and give all your waitress staff a raise and give Alexandra a promotion on top of that! She’s a true asset and I’m sure you have others as well. Do...
Read moreGood sushi. With the cost to eat here, one feels entitled to be a little bit more captious - so here goes. The decor is generic nice, without being memorable. It could easily be a restaurant in London or New York, which I suppose is good or bad depending on what you’re after. Good wine. Over-salted miso. Sun dried tomatoes in one of the vegan sushi roll options doesn’t work. My gf seemed to enjoy her meal though. I wouldn’t complain if someone suggested we dine here, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.
Edit: ironically the email they suggested I message...
