I was beginning to think the only good Asian food in Medellin was sushi, but then we found this place. I love korean food, I am Korean, I cook it all the time at home. I have eaten in the best Koreatown bbq places in the U.S.A., South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam, and this place is at the top. If you add in the fact of how affordable it is and the service, it is pretty hard to beat. Usually in korean bbq places the banchan (side dishes that come with the bbq) are usually forgettable, but not here. The side dishes were delicious, and so many of them. Even the kimchi was fantastic, which was unexpected.
In many korean bbq places half the time you are inhaling smoke no matter how fancy the vent system looks, but there was no smoke blowing in your face. I believe they use real charcoal too which is key to great korean bbq. We got the kalbi (marinated short ribs), bulgogi (marinated thinly sliced beef), and spicy pork belly. All of which were super tasty. Usually at least one of these 3 are a fail at most bbq places, but again, not at this place. My husband usually doesn't like the bulgogi any place we go, but he are it up here.
This place is definitely more expensive than your average restaurant or Colombian parilla restaurant, but it well worth it if you love korean bbq. I can't wait...
Read moreTruth be told, I am having a difficult time writing this review. Please note that I am a Korean American and I know what great Korean food should taste like. I first visited this establishment with a friend on July 19th and had an incredible experience. We ordered the Gal-bi, Bul-Go-gi, and Kimchee Stew. Very good altogether. Service and atmosphere was also great. We spent a total of $142.88 US dollars, which is a lot of money for Colombia. I decided to go back a second time on July 22nd with a different friend. On our second trip, we ordered almost identical items except the Bul-Go-Gi. I noticed immediately that the Kimchee Stew tasted different. It was so spicy matter of fact my friend could not eat it. We spent a total of $136.66 US dollars. After getting back to my hotel, I became violently sick. My friend and I were throwing up and had diarrhea nonstop for over 26 hours. Thank God for Rappi, because I was able to order medications and deliver them to us. The bottom line is, this restaurant made us incredibly sick. We tried calling the restaurant and no answer. No website or email address known for this restaurant. For the amount I paid, I feel very abused getting sick from the food we ate there. I do not recommend this...
Read moreExpensive, side dishes are small, and service asumes you're some expert in Korean bbq so there's a lack of help in you experience.
3 friends and me went to lunch wanting to try something new as our co working Is in the Wake building. Waiter mentioned that we each need to order one protein each ( we couldn't buy only 3 :| ). Since we were 4 we didn't see any problem and because we would orden 4 proteins we would get all sides includes (FYI each protein ONLY includes 3 small sides of your choosing). Pork, cow, fish and chicken arrived and we started our cooking experience with a light explanation "you cook here, you cut with these, you put it inside the lettuce to created a taco and .. .that's it. All yours". As a result we ended up burning 1 chicken piece due to the lack of explanation from the waiter. FYI this is not a place to talk a lot as you'll forget to check want your cooking.
In general it's a one time experience but as an overall,I wouldn't...
