Went here for our last dinner in Medellin and am sad we did. The reviews are wrong, unless your palate is not that refined and you are ok waiting on service. In short: this is the type of place with amazing vibes, but everything else is ok. To start with the good: the space is gorgeous. The band is great. Good vibes, go here for a drink. For the food: we got the beef carpaccio (the best dish we got), the ravioli which came out cold, and a steak that was also cold and over cooked (steak was 164 COP.. not worth it at all.) the salad we got with the steak came out warm. The bread at the beginning was also great but seemed to take a lot of the staff’s capacity since every table got one.

We came on a Saturday night, so it was extremely busy. We waited 10+ minutes for wine to come, and 20+ minutes for our bill. Not a huge deal since the live music was great, but still. Not sure why everyone mentions being well taken care of.. we were not. I wish I didn’t go here.

Title: Discriminatory Treatment for Solo Diners and Poor Service

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant. I specifically came to enjoy the flamenco show and requested a table in front of the stage. Despite the tables being completely empty, the staff refused to seat me there simply because they were for two-person parties. Instead, they wanted to seat me outside the restaurant, far from the show.

To make matters worse, I had already experienced similar treatment the night before when they seated me at the bar instead of a proper table. I returned the next night with a reservation, hoping for a better experience, but since my friend couldn’t make it, they refused to seat me at the table I had reserved.

On top of that, I waited over 20 minutes and no one even asked if I wanted a drink! This place clearly doesn’t value solo diners and offers incredibly poor service. I would caution anyone coming alone...

Fuimos a Máximo Marea Mediterránea con ganas de tener una experiencia gastronómica distinta, pero salimos lamentando que una apuesta tan bien ubicada, con un concepto visualmente atractivo y una vinoteca decente, esté quedando tan por debajo de lo que sugiere su imagen.

Primero, el contexto ya daba pistas: un restaurante completamente vacío a la hora del almuerzo en pleno fin de semana —se nota, tristemente, el efecto de la crisis económica en Colombia. Pero decidimos darle la oportunidad.

Pedimos de entrada un carpaccio de res que, sinceramente, fue lo único rescatable de la velada: bien presentado, con buen corte y sazón equilibrada. Pero lo que vino después fue una decepción.

El pulpo a la parrilla, que suele ser un plato estrella en cualquier menú mediterráneo (y con un precio que lo exige), llegó seco, sin sabor y mal acompañado. Un buen pulpo parrillado debe tener textura firme pero jugosa, haber sido cocido previamente en su punto y luego marcado en la parrilla con aceite de oliva y sal gruesa. Este, en cambio, parecía hervido sin alma y luego recalentado. Lo peor: las papas en lonja que lo acompañaban estaban gelatinosas y mal cocidas, casi incomibles.

Tratando de salvar la noche, pedimos un frutti di mare. Y fue peor: cuatro camarones, unos tentáculos mínimos de pulpo y un revoltijo que no llegaba ni al nivel de una sopa de mariscos básica. El plato daba pena ajena, tanto por cantidad como por calidad.

Pedimos también dos botellas de vino: un espumante y un Pinot Grigio. Estaban bien, pero nada justifica el precio, que incluso supera el promedio de restaurantes similares.

Y eso es lo más doloroso: es un lugar que tiene potencial, con un espacio bien decorado, un concepto que podría funcionar y un servicio amable… pero la ejecución culinaria y el desbalance entre precio, calidad y porciones lo arruinan todo.

Por eso dejo esta reseña con dos estrellas: una por el carpaccio, otra por el servicio. Pero no volvería, al menos no hasta que mejoren sustancialmente la propuesta. Si estás dispuesto a pagar por lo que no vale, este lugar podría gustarte por la ubicación. Si no,...
