Amancio's Pizza — Restaurant in Jacó

DO! NOT! EAT! HERE! I would give it zero stars if I could. Absolutely appalled by the OWNER or MANAGER (she refused to give a name) of this awful restaurant. If you are looking for a nice restaurant to enjoy a nice meal and some wine without judgement, then this should be your last choice for it. The pizza was decent, but when we asked for chicken on the pizza the waiter immediately began giving is attitude. After eating the pizza and sipping on some drinks a couple of people from my party decided to take a look at the gift shop right next door. As soon as someone saw that they left, a woman in a tank top and shorts told us, verbatim, “We need to get our things because we have other people waiting, so you need to leave”. Mind you this was after an hour and a half and after paying $120 worth of drinks and food. We all just assumed she was an owner or a manger, but it was hard to tell due to her lack of professionalism. After someone from my party inquired about this comment she continued to harass us about not knowing what it’s like to run a business rather than explaining her reasoning and she REFUSED to apologize. We had dropped it and said best of luck with this goodbye, and she stood right next to someone from my party and began to SCREAM IN HER FACE. She kept screaming how we need to leave, and how we don’t understand how a business is run. We may not know how to run a business but at least we aren’t the ones screaming at paying customers. I have waited a couple days to write this review just to let my frustration die down a bit. We have been going to Amancio's every time we are in Costa rica since 2017 and during our 5 trips here we usually go there at least 3 times a trip. The food is excellent and is always great flavored food with good portions. Until this trip the staff has always made us feel right at home with attentive service and smiles. This trip has been different. We have been there 3 times in the last week and everytime the service was terrible, having to ask repeatedly for everything including the bill. Every night my wife asked for water with lime and every night they forgot the lime, no ice then after saying 3 times they were bringing the lime and ice just not bringing it. We have been very dissapointed because we really like Amancio who would come to our table and make Spaghetti and talk and would always send free appetizers or bread. this time we never even saw him once. After hearing great reviews from a friend, my family drove 1.5hours to Jaco to show the beach to my visiting family and to try out an amazing Italian restaurant we had heard about.

On Sunday, September 16th at about 2:10pm, my family walked up to Amancios only to be turned away by a man who said he worked there. He said they would open up at 3pm, so we waited 45 minutes across the street at Jacoffee.

At 3pm we went back across the street but Amancios was still closed and dark. After a few minutes, a couple of women showed up to unlock the doors and told us that they were servers. They said they would not be ready for another 40 minutes. They then said the cook had not yet shown up and didnt know when he would.

Instead of waiting, we left and will not return nor be able to recommend this place. Our friends had been there several times and raved about it, it's too bad the place couldnt live up to the hype and even be open or ready for business at the time the hours indicate they...
