I visited El Chicano Mexican Food restaurant in Jaco, Costa Rica and overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. The restaurant has a casual and inviting atmosphere, with traditional Mexican decor that creates a warm and cozy ambiance. The staff was friendly and attentive, always willing to help and make recommendations. The menu offers a variety of options, including classic Mexican dishes such as tacos, burritos, and fajitas. I particularly enjoyed the Tacos al Pastor, they were loaded with flavorful marinated pork and topped with fresh cilantro and onions. The portions were also generous and the prices are very reasonable.
The restaurant also has a great selection of margaritas and beers, which are carefully curated to complement the menu. The drinks were also very well-made and tasted delicious. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, perfect for a casual lunch or dinner with friends or family. They also have a great outdoor seating area, which is perfect for enjoying a meal on a nice day.
In terms of photography, El Chicano Mexican Food restaurant in Jaco is a great spot for capturing some great shots of the dishes, the food is well-presented and the lighting is good, the decor also gives a great background. Read moreUpdate: The food is still delicious, and the environment fun and lively. Was back here early March 2020. The service was pretty bad. They didn't bring our food out together so one of us was sitting there without their meal. The staff isnt attentive anymore. They're slow, and seem annoyed when you ask for anything. The wait staff does not anticipate your needs, they just do the bare minimum.
Original review: We were here in early January 2020, and ordered almost everything on the menu. The food is delicious. Portion sizes appropriate. The ingredients taste fresh. Nothing is over-sauced or over-spiced. Thoughtfully simple menu- perfect. I would say the food is more Tico than Mexican. Service is too attentive, which makes you feel rushed. The overly attentive service is actually to their detriment. To be blunt, it's obnoxiously annoying to be asked 5x what one wants to order within the first 2 minutes of sitting, before even seen a menu. It gives you a feeling of fastfood, as opposed to an enjoyable experience. I am writing this review in late Feb 2020, so perhaps things have changed. The cocktails are beautifully crafted. We tried quite a few different ones, and they were on on the sweet side with I assume measured-out alcohol. You definitely aren't going to get tipsy on the cocktails there. You might get diabetes, but not drunk ;) The environment was lively around dinnertime when we were there. The decor was New Orleans meets Day of the Dead. Very cool, aesthetic graffiti. I appreciated the graffiti in the restroom as well. Location is good. I do prefer open-air dining in CR, but on the plus side the air conditioning is a nice reprieve. I recommend the Taco Joint, and hope this...
Read moreFrom the start the staff was warm and welcoming, the Pura Vida manner of life. Then our naturale fruit juice drinks that we ordered were brought to us and are deliciously pungent, served in very tall mason jars. To start, I had the Sopa Azteca, which was loaded with rich hearty Mexican flavor. Secondly, my wife and my main courses were served. My wife had the Nachos con Pollo (chicken), which were served with lean fresh chicken, a variety of mixed fresh vegetables to include the perfect amount of fresh jalapeño, as well as variety of beans and Mexican cheeses. I had the Burrito con Carne (steak), and let me tell you, that steak was so juicy and tender it was similar a tenderloin filet, but this was better due to the complimenting blend of sauces and ingredients within the burrito. This place is by far the best Mexican in Jaco and a must whether you are in the area for your vacation or thinking about a place to go for a great meal with friends or family, or if you just want to treat yourself to great food. El Chicano...
