We visited as per awesome TA reviews but did not find it to be great value for money in terms of seafood. Their portions are fairly small, though presentation of the dishes is very nice. We are not big eaters, and we've been to quite a few of CR restaurants at that point, so I had something to compare to. Note: in the menu in section "Casados" 3 types of fajitas are listed - they are NOT casados - ie the portion of fajitas is quite small (in case you have a different idea about fajitas). Fruit drinks are delicious (after you get what you ordered - the waiter initially brought the wrong one)
I would recommend you pay by cash but do check your bill carefully - their billing practice does not seem to be very accurate. Once we pointed out to discrepancy in our bill, the owner apologized and explained it out by the new waiter who's just learning his work - it seems that this excuse is being used routinely as a response to similar comments.
Overall, it is a decent place, but I am not sure why people are raving...
Read moreAmericans beware! The food was ok but we were definitely taken advantage of as tourists. We made the trek to this restaurant based on reviews about reasonable prices for the area. There was nothing more than 5000 colones (10$) on the menu so we were happy to take the waiters suggestion of their daily special plate. We were SHOCKED when the waiter brought the bill and told us it was $97.00! He had charged us 25000 (50$) colones for the special of the day 5 TIMES MORE a than anything on the menu. He totally took advantage of the fact that the price was not published so there was nothing we could do. It was so obvious he knew what he was doing and was even sheepish as he dropped the bill on our table and ran away. We are used to eating out and would not have been surprised to pay this at s fine dining establishment that had table cloths and fine china ..this is not how this place is..it's basically a picnic table "soda" type diner. I can't get my money back but I hope to spare others by editing...
Read moreLocal seafood restaurant in the heart of Quepos, yet in a quiet neighborhood. Recently reopened in a new location down the block from its previous one. This place is definitely not fancy, but the food was made-to-order and delicious, some or the best we had during our stay. The fish was super fresh and sourced from sport fishermen. The owner and server were really friendly and accommodating the menu to meet our tastes. They were both fluent in and happy to speak English.
We had the Pescado del Dia (sea bass) and yellow fin tuna three-ways (sashimi, seared, and blackened). The side order of rice and beans were mind-blowingly good. We had to restrain ourselves from ordering more food than we could eat!
Definitely check this place out and get away from the more touristy spots. And try their house cocktail, Coco, with mint and the local spirit!
Tip: Google maps doesn't know this...
