The Cave Bar More was our last stop before returning home to Makarska on our Motorcycle. I found this place pre Trip on Google and it looked awesome so we decided to visit. We did not know that the bar is part of a Hotel, which did not matter too much. The staff was exceptionally friendly, respectful and supportive when we entered from the street and gave us directions how to get to the bar in the hotel. You have to take two different elevators š to get to the bar, if you can also enter from the beach in appropriate attire? We donāt know! Be dressed in casual elegance as this bar is nobel and trendy. When you come out of the elevator, you have a beautiful, stylish and cozy bar with skylights and even a small niche with glassfloor where you can view the cave elements (stalactites).. children love this. Also on the outside you will find a ānoblesse obligeā vibe with a couple of levels of terraces facing the sea and the stunning sunset (when itās time - also something this bar is famous for). Cocktails (alcoholic beverages and the nonalcoholic alternatives) are around ⬠16,50.- I tried the āGame of Thronesā Cocktail (itās Dubrovnik after all!) and my partner decided to give the nonalcoholic beer a try which he describes as ādobroā temperature - and taste wise. We waited quite long for our food (we had ordered antipasto for around 24.- Euros): we already had finished the cocktail and beer 20 minutes later when we asked another time for the status of our order. The waiter did not quite understand our assumption that they simply might have forgotten our food, maybe they indeed had and were trying to save face, we donāt know. The food arrived pronto after our āinvestigationā š. Yet we were surprised to get a āone time use, toss it outā wooden cutlery set in this High End place. Of course we want to highlight the eco-friendliness of the choice the bar (or hotel) made, yet still had expected to receive a regular cutlery set. The food was delish and we enjoyed our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCanāt speak to the food because it took over 50 minutes for my single bruschetta to arrive, and I didnāt bother eating.
Service was very poor and they were not particularly busy. First arrived and asked if it was open seating, they told me to sit anywhere. From that point it took 15-20 minutes before a waiter came by, and I had to stop him as he left another table. He took my order and then went to continue texting by the service area.
Drinks are slightly pricey but expected for what the location is. No complaints on the price, but the drinks themselves were mediocre at best. Long Island tasted like the bottle mix, Whiskey Sour was meh. Again I had to wave him down to get a second drink.
Moving to the food. After 30 minutes of waiting after ordering I flagged my waiter down again and asked him if anything was wrong. He said he would check with the kitchen. I received no update. At the 50 minute mark I asked for him to cancel it and bring my bill. Before bringing the bill the food of course arrived but I was frustrated and chose not to have it.
He then acknowledged and helped 3 other tables with their bill before I finally managed to pay and leave. Over 2 hours spent to get 2 mediocre drinks.
Very pretty spot, right by the water and great views, inside is cool with the hollowed out cave aesthetics. Was not disappointed by the looks but everything else was a let down.
If youāre looking to pay a bit more for good food and service, this is not the spot. If youāre okay with paying more purely for aesthetics,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe fabulous and glamorous "Cave" used to be - a workers' (literally, labourers) summer vacation retreat, and this - belonging to those from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Upon, "liberation, the property nominally belonged in turn to the Bosnian state, but was, like gas stations in Serbia belonging to Croatia, stolen by host countries; to this very day local politicians cannot resolve the knot, which has been made worse by the states reselling those to shady entrepreneurs. That much about history. The place is as well in constant expansion so though the hotel isn't the worst fare in Dubrovnik, be ready for occasional bulldozing. Staff in the bar is composed of old crew and underpaid students, while prices change season to season by as much as 30%. In odd months they accommodate Bulgarian pensioner tours, though the emphasis is on Brits, and now one can munch too on the beach, since locals discovered this rakes in more. The tale is really context; I would recommend the venue. Fairly soon one recognises there are a few big players here and that everybody in a way depends on these people, and one can usually tell this by clean permits. As for clean sheets, you tell me. There is something posing for spa as well, but the locale, rather unlawfully, don't allow...
