Great location but nothing else. Food- the pizza sauce (“homemade” my backside) reminded me of Tesco Value pasta sauce from my student days- very sugary, probably never seen a tomato... and the “buffalo mozzarella” which should have been on my pizza appeared to have grown legs. It didn’t seem to be there on a particularly busy evening but the waiters were all like headless chickens. Took a while to receive a menu when we sat down and didn’t see a drinks menu as we instead were given 3 pizza menus. Our orders were mistaken- no problem from our perspective as we sent them straight back to the kitchen- but this ensued in a huge argument between 2 staff members. Quite entertaining but not professional at all. We then saw one of the pizzas taken elsewhere (after it had been on our table)- poor customers. The way the staff ran around and their apparent exasperation showed deep disorganisation and resulted in below-average service. The bill was another delay and we were definitely ready to...
Read moreSunset Beach is a must see and be seen venue in Dubrovnik. To go swimming, bring some rubber sandals if like me the soles of your feet are 'delicate' (the shore is not sand but small rounded pebbles), the swim is so refreshing in hot weather, you can rent a chair & parasol, and purchase sandals easily. The actual sunset truly is made for Instagram... something about the sun going down between mountain ranges and she sea...the beach is aptly named! There are many restaurants to choose from along the promenade leading up from the beach, alive with locals and tourists. We tried two restaurants and both were well worth it. There are several hotels close-by. We were bumped up to a 4 star establishment along the climbing road and it was deserving of the ranking, with a pool from which we could look down onto the beach in...
Read moreFirst up, October 2017 this "resort" was brand new. They were still landscaping.
Second up it's charming. Literally. I was charmed.
It's a complex of 3/4 restaurants, great public facilities (toilets were pristine) lounging area [50 kuna a bed a day] and the sunset views are spectacular. There's wifi everywhere and the staff were great.
Well so they should be! Because it's similar prices as Dubrovnik Old Town. Which is not cheap. The prices do vary but on average a small glass of house wine 18 kuna, a bottle of lager [33cl, staropramen] 28 kuna.
You could spend a day there. Easy. But the sunset is the best bit.
There's supermarket adjacent and you can get anything you'd need there. I didn't try buying beer and sitting at Sunset Beach to drink it. It didn't seem the done thing.
Glad I went? Yes....
