Restoran Sphere — Restaurant in Dubrovnik

Restaurant is situated on the beginning of Sunset beach in Dubrovnik and has a wonderfull terrace to enjoy the sun. We were there to test their offer within the Valentines Gastro weekend. The story has two sides. The restaurant's interior was very well composed, clean and comfortable. We have tested their fish and meat menu. Food was creatively presented in a fair amount for the three course menu. The octopus served in the cold fish plate was little bit tough to chew. The main course was very well balanced (John Dory fillet with rooth vegetables puree and beetrooth sauce) and tasty. And the very satacious and heavy Ferrero cake was a little bit too much to end this kind of meal. The negative side was the very slow service. The meat menu had to small portions comparing to the fish menu. We have waited over 25 minutes for the starter meal and too long between the courses. In the end this lunch lasted over 2 hours. So when we got the check I was glad it was over. Service was polite but not on the level we got in other restaurants in Dubrovnik. This was a real surprise. The menu is varied and the restaurant is huge so they were able to accommodate us easily with no booking needed. We expected bland over priced food. What we got was a real treat. After a bit of a wait for initial service, our waitress was really friendly. The food was outstanding. Starter Mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto with honey and almond dressing was fantastic albeit a huge portion. Main course Fisherman's plate had a mixture of shell fish and a sea bass fillet. Perfectly cooked. Desert was a lemon cake with pistachio. Again excellent. Possibly the best meal we have had in the Dubrovnik area. It was also very good value. You don't get as good a sea view as it is set back from the edge but makes up for this in other ways. Staff are extremely kind and helpful however food is not great.

We ordered a Caesar Salad, Beef Pasta and Mussels. The Caesar Salad was tasty, nothing wrong with it. The Beef Pasta was very odd. I think this is a normal dish here however I found it a bit strange. The sauce was slightly sweet and didn't really match with the dish in my opinion. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it may be worth a try. Mussels didn't seem to be cleaned correctly and they felt aged with some 'beard'.

All in all I wouldn't come here again however I do recommend it if, like us, you've just arrived and looking to stop off somewhere to eat.
