I did not understand how this restaurant have a Michelin star.. the food is just OK. I would say the problem that I had came from the service. It was not a bad service, but the waiter did not explain correctly. I ordered this cappuccino soup, which described a soup with shrimp. I had asked him to explain and he said it was like a bisque, so I wanted to make sure if it was tomato based, he said yes, it has tomatoes. OK, the soup came and it was basically a thickened shrimp water with a foam on top. No shrimp, not even close to a bisque, tasted terrible. Then as an entree I ordered the beef cheeck with grilled vegetables and some kind o puree. Beef was not very tender, the vegetables were not grilled, but au gratin and the puree was a watery sauce that I could not identify what it was. Overall my main dish was not bad, but definitely not worth what I paid for. My husband ordered just noodles with beef cheeks, which it was listed on the menu the type of pasta (ai forgot the name) & beef cheeks. The waiter brought his dish with my soup and he had put the order for 2 beef cheeks for main, which only one was ordered. Before they brought my main dish, we wanted to make sure he knew it was just 1 main dish and his would be only the noodles, which he kinda argued about it, but "cancelled". The menu at the restaurant was completely different from the menu on the website, which it was fine, but overall I was very disappointed with my choice...
Read moreLovely restaurant in one of the central small alleys. Rated as Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide. Overall we had a nice experience maybe a bit re dimensioned by some flaws and high expectations from Michelin’s rating. Food was tasty and well executed with fantastic presentation. However in my humble (and maybe wrong) opinion: I found the risotto a bit over cooked, at least for Italian standards, and the istrian pasta had preserved truffle and not fresh one (if I knew upfront I would have not ordered since I don’t like the taste of preserved truffle even if it has wonderful perfume). Last but not least I believe the swordfish was either overcooked or at least not fresh (frozen?) because it had a very hard consistency. Service was careful and gentle even if I would expect more from this restaurant level (e.g. I asked for suggestions on the wine and got a standardized answer and got recommended a wine with characteristics opposite to my request). Overall a nice experience but, as I said, I would expect more for the price: 2 starters, 2 pasta dishes, 4 glasses of wine for 1.100+ kn (146€).
PS: I reviewed my rating up to 4 stars. After re-thinking I might have been to strict, even if I stand behind what I wrote. I would still recommend...
Read moreNo value for money! We visited the restaurant on early August 2021. We have been given a table without reservation which was great. We ordered 2 starters and 3 mains.
Waiting We waited approximately 30 min for the starters and another 50 min after the starters came for the mains. I am trying to be understanding when a restaurant has a lot of traffic but the delay was unacceptable, considering the prices.
Service Service was kind and that’s why I give the second star. But usually restaurants of fine dinning are expected to serve first small starter on the house, at least some olives or something. We havent been offered even water or napkins.
Taste Risotto was great starter, carpaccio was nothing special and the salad included wasn’t adding anything to the taste. Mains were tasty but again not special. Definitely not what you expect from a restaurant that was as advertised by then recommended by Michelin.
Price As I started the value for money was really bad. The restaurant wasn’t offering fine dinning but the prices were definitely that of a Michelin star restaurant. We payed approximately 60 euros per person without drinks or wine. I have no problem with that price if what we are offered reflects the price.
All in all not...
